My original idea of getting a caricature artist to sketch me proposing to her was altered a little but...same idea, different execution.
We stayed at the NY NY Hotel and Casino in Vegas last weekend. I was originally planning on doing this on Freemont Street, but I found something more interesting at the Excalibur (where we ate breakfast Saturday morning). They had a caricature stand right outside the buffet area. Right next to it was one of those 3D crystal stands (where they etch a 3D image of you into crystal).
Well, I thought that would be a better keepsake of the moment. So after my buddy Jens and I finished eating we got up to run by Starbucks (or so she though-I had let out friends know that morning). I stopped by the kiosk and enlisted the help of the girl that was working there (Thanks Amanada!!). She was quite excited about it too. She told me to come around after we were all done eating and she would entice us to sit and take a pic and preview it.
We did that, and after getting a shot we both liked I told her I wanted to get us one. So while she was distracted by our friends I filled out the paperwork with "Will you marry me..." and paid for it.
We came back a few hours later to pick it up. Amanada put our crystal out on display so that we would happen upon it on our return (that way she could inspect it and see the inscription).
Well, she leaned over and it didn't take her long to react. I asked, and she said yes. We even had some people standing around clapping. It was a great moment, and we have something to remember it by forever!
