The school thing worries me. I don't have kids but I would not want anyone's children to be subjected to bullying or even made to feel out of place, like they are not welcome... I am sad to hear the things that were said to you when you were a child. I have 100% confidence that you will be able to take on the awful adults should you once again cross paths with them, but reg your children, a good fact-finding mission seems crucial and it seems like you're definitely going to do it, so great! I really hope everything works out for you. Lots of dust!

And just as a side note, I am Hindu. Lived in the South as well as Midwest. Have lots of Christian and Jewish friends and they would be the first to defend me if someone said something bigoted to me. The way I see it, all ways lead to The Way and the only divisions are

1) Horrible bigoted mean-spirited people and 2) nice people. Everyone who responded to this thread is the second kind.

One of my mottos is "don't borrow trouble" so I think your plan of crossing the school bridge when the time comes is a really good one Who knows what will happen in between, and there is usually a solution to any challenge.
