An Unlikely Friendship

I snapped these photos at my mums on Christmas day. Fred (the bird) is a Long Billed Corella and Cosmo (the cat) is a Burmese.

I think they make great friends.

I didn't catch it on film, but later on Cosmo had curled up into the cat box and Fred was sticking his head in and singing to him.

Awwww!! I love them!!! how long have they been buddies?

They have been friends for a couple of years I think? Cosmo goes into the spare cage next to Fred during the day as he is an indoor cat. They have spent the last couple of years in each others company with the wire between them. Fred likes to pass sticks to Cosmo and if Cosmo is not careful Fred will pull his tail through the wire!

After a few months together Fred started meowing.

Oh my God, this is the cutest thing! I am such a sucker for animal stories! This is my favorite! I love unlikely friends and this is just about the unlikeliest combo I've ever seen. He meows! Fred passes him sticks? I love, love, love this! More pics! More stories!

Adorable!!! I would be terrified to let my cats around birds...but maybe since Fred is about the same size Cosmo sees him as an equal. That's just beyond cute!
