An Ebay Deal Too Good to be true??

Hi D,

The photos of those diamonds have to be the lowest quality, murkiest photos of a diamond that I have ever seen marketed by a jewlery concern.

The question of why this is so concerns me for your sake.

Do the prudent thing, get them checked out.

Also, have all your eagle eye friends look at them. Ideally, some that have and/or know diamonds.

The listing does say that , if in your opionion, they are not eyeclean that you may return them without penalty.

Please let us know what happens.

I hope they are nice, but the truth is, I am shocked and concerned by the photos.

Get them appraised by a professional during the 3 day return period. Schedule the appointment first, even before you pay for the earrings and have them shipped because this is a VERY short return window. There can be some pretty important variables that aren''t obvious in that photo and description.

There is an index of appraisers at the top of the page under ''resources'' that may be helpful for finding one in your neighborhood.

theflav,

The diamonds are going to suck. They are going to be milky and dead. Take them to any store and compare them to a better quality pair and you''ll see for yourself.

How do I know? Because you simply can''t buy nice clear one carat diamonds for less than $1500-$2000/ct. Those are wholesale prices by the way - not retail. That means best price to you would be at least three grand and I don''t even think that''s gonna happen.

Send back the stones and spend the same money on something more like 1.40cttw from Brian and you''ll have something to be proud of for years to come.

Thanks, Neil and Brian.
Quick question--and I will get these appraised. Is it better to show the appraiser the egl certificates first, after the appraisal, or not at all?
Thanks again,

D. Heinrich

I am not an expert but don''t these look lower than an I1 based on the pictures. EGL is known to be a little liberal with their ratings?

save yourself some money, i wouldn't even get these appraise ,just return it before its too late......$2000 for 2 ctw ? do you believe in santa claus ?

Here are some thoughts on dealing with your appraisal session.

The first thing to do is look at them yourself. As Jim and Dancing correctly point out, the appraiser is going to charge you for their services. If you don''t love them yourself then you don''t need to spend the money to get them checked out. You can also collect a sales pitch for free from your local jewelry store. Go in and ask them to show you earrings within your budget and see what you get. Most stores carry an inventory of this kind of item.

Well, can you e-mail this person to see if you could get out of the contract? Some sellers are very understanding.
Those do not look like true I1''s. They look almost borderline I3''s. Milky stones are not beautiful stones to look at. Not even from a distance. And they don''t look like a nice match either. But maybe these are better in person, I don''t know. I would seriously dought it though.

If you paid with Paypal and it turns out they are NOT what they are stated. You will be able to get your money back.

Good luck. I do hope, for you, that they a prettier in person.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS~!
