That was amazing!! Thanks for posting..I started skating again last year after 30 years.. so fun!

Beautiful ice dancing... love those twizzles. Ah, good memories. I was always at the rink back in the day.

How could the camera (wo)man not run into the wall as (s)he so deftly keeps the skaters centered in the frame, while skating to stay in perfect position?

I think the videographer must have practiced extensively with the skaters, and also participated in their choreography.
I see this really as a dance of 3 experts.

Astonishing!

Beautiful...maybe its like football (American) where they have that camera over the field that can criss-cross the field
to follow the plays.

Just looked it up. Its call SkyCam.

From Wikipedia
"Skycam is a computer-controlled, stabilized, cable-suspended camera system. The system is maneuvered through three dimensions in the open space over a playing area of a stadium or arena by computer-controlled cable-drive system. It is responsible for bringing video game–like camera angles to television sports coverage. The camera package weighs less than 14 kilograms (31 lb) and can travel at 13 m/s (29 mph)."

Seriously, its probably another ice skater/dancer that knows exactly where they need to be during the shots (their path has
been choreograph inorder to get the best shots???)

That was beautiful! Thank you @kenny for sharing it. Ice dancing has come a long way since I was a kid!
I also appreciate the camerawork and wonder if they could have used a skycam like @tyty333 said. Amazing!!

Amazing.
My father was a broadcast technician (camera and audio) Other than working on some Yankee games and a local talk show, he didn't talk much about his job, but I KNOW there was no camera work on ice. Crazy.

Thanks tyty333.
Never watching sports on TV, I knew nothing about that cool technology.
It would explain what we're seeing.

OMG!
Astonishing skill!!!!!!!!!!!!

This video is just breathtaking! Even being close enough to listen to the click of their skates gave me goosebumps, nevermind the skating itself! Gorgeous!

Oh @whitewave thank you! I was just about to look this video up. Torvill and Dean Bolero. Does it for me every time. Changed ice dancing forever.

I just saw they performed it on 2014 on dancing on the ice!

So 1984 won olympics..

1994 performed in tribute to Sarajevo

2014 dancing on the ice and they look amazing:

HI:

Perfect. And on outdoor ice, no less.

cheers--Sharon

Also shows how camera work has changed from 1984 until today lol

I watched it a few weeks ago and Metallica caught DH’s ear and he came over and watched it as well. Now that’s something— if ice dancing can catch the middle aged husband.... (somewhat of a caveman lol)

Freestyle or dance? Spins were my favorite.

I remember watching it too, but as I was around age 12 I was just watching it because of nothing else to do and it happened to be on. I remember thinking they looked like birds in the beginning.

Wow
now that's a career i never saw coming
but good for him
would he be allowed on the rink for compitions though ?

I know, right? What an interesting, technical and high skill set career but good for him because it’s artsy and unique.

I also wonder about competitions...

Its certainly a diffetent direction to take than coaching or touring sleeping beauty on ice and the like

Was that the one where he (was it he?)who needed a hug and someone faxed him a giant pixelated word hug?

This thread inspired me to watch I Tonya last night

(I watched spinning out last week)

I guess there would be work in Hollywood for a photographer with these skills then
