So I ordered from James Allen and asked them to send the diamond to the place I am getting the setting from. The setter got it, says it looks beautiful but that the JA didnt include the certificate. I have a digital copy of the certificate. James Allen says they are 99% sure it was included but that they will send a replacement one but only to me, not to the Jeweler. Is this some kind of scam that I am missing on behalf of the jeweler?

THanks

It doesnt immediately scream out scam to me. What I would do if I were you was make sure the setter has the digital copy to confirm its the right stone. Hopefully is an inscribed stone so its extra easy. I dont think anything is wrong with them sending the cert to you. James Allen does a lot of buisness on this forum and they are very reputable.

Have them send you the report, or a photo of the report (not a scan - poor quality will sometimes misrepresent the inclusion plot).

Then when you pick up your finished ring have the jeweller sit down with you and map the inclusions w/ the store loupe against your inclusion plot on the report.

No worries.

I wasn't suggesting it was on behalf of JA. I have full confidence in them. I am worried about the jeweler who I have never met and only contacted by phone.

I'm assuming that the jewler is not a pricescope vendor? How did you choose this particular vendor to set the stone?
