Really glad I found this forum as there's so much content online, but doesn't seem like there's many forums for people to talk about diamonds! Anyway, I'm currently looking to purchase this particular diamond, but I was hoping to get some opinions on the pricing to see if it's a rip off, fair, or a decent deal.

Here's some quick specs:
  1. Loose Diamond - Round 1.56 CT, E Color, SI1 Clarity
  2. Eye Clean
  3. GIA Triple Ex, No Fluorescence
  4. Quoted (before tax): USD $12,200
I know that there are nicer loose stones that can be found for not that much more, but I'm more focused on seeing if this pricing at about $12K is fair.

Really appreciate your thoughts!

I would check against similar stones on James Allen and Blue Nile to compare pricing.

Did that as well, but it's a bit difficult for me to reasonably compare given that the Table, Dept, and CA / PA are all different. I know that this diamond has angles that aren't super ideal, but hoping that the light return is still decent enough.

Also, SI1 stones can be so different depending on where the inclusions are. I like that this one is fairly clean for a SI1, so hoping to get some other opinions on pricing.

This isn't a well cut stone IMHO, so I can't really tell you if the price is "fair" or not. I would say no, because I wouldn't want to pay 12k for something that isn't well cut, period.

There are 174 stones, 1.5-1.6 carat, E Si1, GIA XXX on the PS search above. They range in price from $9000 to $15000. However, I can’t say how well cut they are compared to ideal.

The stone you’ve posted scores 3.8 on the HCA so it would be a pass for many of us.

Check these out. These are all ACA stones. 2 are close to the price of your posted stone. F is still colorless and beautiful IMHO. Of course, you need to confirm that the stones are eye clean.

And I have heard Whiteflash has a great upgrade policy if you ever need it.

There will be leakage in this diamond and also it’s cut too deep

This would be a pass for me. You can find a much better stone for the price.

Hi,

The price is good as long as its a nice SI1. The only problem I see with the diamond is the mm's are a bit small.

Because the stone is cut too deep.

62.7 is ok, its just the mm's are a tad too small and in such a fine stone it means a lot.

youre better off paying more money for a stone that is 7.5 mm

62.7 is cut too deep for PS standards

Thanks everyone for your input! Decided to move on from this stone.
