First time diamond buyer, looked at a lot of the crem de la crem places (tiffany, HW, Cartier, de Beers, etc.), and then went to a B&M today and checked some rings out. Here are the stats:

1.56, round-brilliant

VS1

H-color

GIA certified

$10,500.00 (stone only)

Just want to make sure that this is reasonable, any help will be much appreciated!

Cut will also have an influence on the price of the stone.

We need the table, depth%, crown and pavilion angle to make a rough guess on the cut quality of the stone. Also, good to have are the star and lower half numbers, girdle variation and actual dimensions.

And the cut grade too please smartwater added to the above.

Table: 55%

Depth: 62.3%

Girdle: Medium to slightly thick

excellent symmetry

excellent polish

Dont know the other information.

Deal reasonable??

Thanks!

What is the GIA report number? When is the report dated?

Ahhhh! I''m a first timer! I didnt know I was supposed to know all this stuff. I''m going back for a second meeting next Monday, but any guesses on where I stand right now? Or at least a range that a good/great diamond would be within?

Looks pretty good to me. The lab report will help us answer your question in detail.

If the other numbers work well together, it is a very good deal. If not, the cut is probably not that good which will account for the good price. Good luck. :)

If you could get the crown and pavilion angles or the report number so we can look them up, that will tell us more.

Dear Paul,

From one Paul to another, I think that saying ''looks pretty good to me'' without having any real and definitely no good information about this stone is not helping this consumer in any way. The information given does not allow you in any way to say anything good or bad about the stone.

All the consumers in this post have been very careful in asking for more info, before being able to give any comment. I would advise that as a professional, you would follow their example.

Live long,
