Am I Getting a Good Deal? 2.09 Emerald H VS1

Hello -

Thanks much in advance for your help with this!

I was referred by a friend who got a nice stone and ring at a dealer in downtown LA at the Jewelry District.

The stone I am considering is a GIA Certifited 2.09ct emerald cut, H, VS1. The price is 16700 for the stone and he has agreed to split the tax with me (although I am bargaining to pay no tax).

With a custom made 18k white gold setting with pave and antique ornament, total cost is $18500 not including tax.

I am more concerned with the price of the stone, which seems decent compared to what I have seen on the internet. I lurk this forum often however, and I would very much appreciate advice on whether this is a good buy.

Hi Jon, price sound reasonable. You might want to post more information about proportions, girdle, symmetry....

Here are more details:

the measurements are 8.86 x 6.17 x 4.12 mm

polish is very good, symmetry is good, and there is no fluorescence

Do you have table/depth measurements? Have you seen this stone in person?

If you are a long time lurker, you should realize that cut is the most important of the 4 C''s. We need more information please. Table, depth, pavillion/ crown angles, girdle information.
