lol naw your in good company...

I dont own one and have no desire to own one.
I go out to get away from a computer/email/forums not to carry one with me.
If one of my clients did not demand 24/7 access to call me I wouldn't even have a cell phone.

Nope. Think of all the money you're saving so you can buy more jewelry.

Well Verizon announced today they will have iPhone (no surprise). Would any of you Verizon subscribers consider getting a smartphone now?

I, for one, am very happy to hear it. AT&T is the WORST carrier, and skated by on these exclusive contracts for far too long. And even though this is not the great news for Android (which I have and love), it's great for me since AT&T, which is my carrier through work, will hopefully pay attention to its Android users a bit more.

I had Verizon a few years ago and loved them. Hopefully they are prepared for this onslaught of business.

I think this is a smart move for Apple. Not so good for AT&T, since they suck really bad.

I have a Motorola Android. I love it, but it is expensive and ridiculous. We pay $200 a month for a Blackberry and Droid, and I am sick of it, so I am going to buy an iPod Touch 4th Gen and get a basic cellphone instead.

Oh, and I agree with everything waterlilly said. Preventing your children from advancing with the world is just, well, NOT SMART.

Which carrier are you with? If you're with AT&T, can you change? I wonder if they will go back to unlimited data plans now that iPhone is going to Verizon (who has unlimited plans as well).

Wow, phone bills are expensive though!

I'm with Verizon. The added data plan of two smart phones is painful!

I'm excited about this!! I was an iphone addict for a long time before we switched to verizon. Between the two of us, we managed to have all 4 different models of the iphone. I loved it, but really hated the att service. Just awful. I've gotten used to android, and I love my samsung fascinate. It's the closest thing android had to an iphone. I'm a little sad that it will be another year and a half before I'll be eligible to get it, though I really do like my fascinate.

I wonder how many iphone users will switch to verizon now, and how big of an impact it will have on their business.

Okay, i am back for this thread. LoL...I check out of the laptop completely for a few days. I know to some, it may sound funny that i am so anti-technology, but its my personal stand point. Does it make me sound silly to most, Yes, but it doesnt make me sound silly to all. I know plenty of people who are anti-technology, just because they feel it complicates their life, myself included. Also, how much paper is one check, really? This is a conversation, i was having with the FI the other day, while at the DMV...we had to go to renew his DL, and he was upset, by the wait, and thinks maybe everything sound be automated, to which i pointed out, if it were automated, where would all the people work, if they let machines do everything. Same as, if people stop reading books, and go to e-readers, what will happen to all of the books, and the libary workers? Its a slippery slope if you ask me.

Okay, im all done with my cents....lol

The jobs don't disappear, they just change. Book publisher turns into kindle producer. Librarian turns into logistics person who ships them. Not necessarily exactly like that, but you get my drift. There have to be lots of people to maintain those machines, and tech support people, and so on and so forth.

I guess I must be in a good area because I've been with AT&T for over a year and have had no problems with it (or complaints from my friends about getting a hold of me). I started out with Cingular and dropped them to go to Verizon because that's what the rest of my family was doing and they controlled my phone. I escaped my Verizon plan early because their customer service was terrible and I was always having issues with my phones. I also had no service in my boyfriend's apartment (which then became ours) so that had to go. From Verizon I went to Sprint because at work we used Nextel and it was easier. Then I wanted the iPhone and went to AT&T. My boyfriend and I currently have them and we've said that it is the first time ever that we were happy with our provider and phone. I have no intentions of switching anytime soon but I'm aware that this is not the case with everyone. Perhaps by people jumping ship to Verizon it may make AT&T a little better...who knows, I'm not all into the technology wars.

The battles between who is better kind of drives me insane. I took a friend to get a new phone and she has Sprint. Their rep basically looked down on me for having AT&T and tried pushing their latest smart phone on me. I can't stand that stuff.

I wonder how many Verizon customers will get an iPhone now. We have Verizon. My husband has the Droid X and I have a basic texting phone with GPS (Verizon calls it VZ Navigator). We're happy with what we have. I am actually due for an upgrade though, so I may check out the iPhone (and Droid). I have a feeling that I'll stick with what I have though. We're already pay way more than I'd like for our phones each month, and I'd hate to increase that by getting a fancier phone.

We switched from Verizon to AT&T and I LOVE AT&T. I didn't even know people complained about at&t. We got rid of Verizon b/c we didn't have any reception at the place we were living during the summer. That said, Verizon is now Frontier, isn't it (?), or is that just around here that they changed?
