I want a diamond that is over 2.5ct, F-G, SI1 or better, with an excellent polish and cut, lots of fire. I want to pay no more than $20,000. Am I asking for the impossible? What sites on-line offer the best deals? Is it a mistake to get an EGL certified diamond?
It''s not a mistake to get an EGL certificate, you just need to be more careful than you may with an AGS certificate. There is a thread on SMTR from a bit ago asking to see EGL beauties. You may want to search for it.
IMO, yes, 2.5 carats in that colour for $20K is very hard, if not impossible.
I think your price point for a 2.5 f-g SI1 rb is impossible in a decent cut. If you got an EGL with those specs I''d be very suspicious of the EGL cert. I''d be suspicious of the EGL cert in any case. I''d stick with AGS or GIA cert. I''m afraid a diamond with those specs for $20,000 would be a very poor cut and you wouldn''t be getting the fire, brill and scint you want. Good luck.
For example, this is an ES from WF, it''s very slightly smaller than what you want, the clarity that you want, and 4, yes 4, colour grades down.
Could you expand what you want in order to get to your goal of 2.5 carats? What size is your current e-ring? If you want larger now you could always upgrade to 2-2.2 carats with someone who offers a good upgrade policy so you could reach your 2.5 goal in another couple of years.
I think that I found a good diamond from Abazias. What do you think?
