Pricescope has been unbelievably helpful in my search for a perfect ring. I have learned so much and everyone has been so helpful. I'm now on the home stretch for my ering to be complete. I pulled the trigger on this setting http://www.gabrielny.com/amavida/style/ER6495PT3JJ from GOG last week and it should be arriving by the end of next week.

I am hoping to pop the question in the next 3 weeks so I have to make a decision quickly on a stone in order to get the ring on time. GOG suggested the following stone for me, which I have looked at to the best of my abilities: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9573/. This scores very highly on the HCA at 1.0 and on all of the tests that GOG supplies look to check out ok, my only concerns are the inclusion on the table and that the hearts image and ASET image look like this stone may have a painted girdle. GOG has told me that the stone is eye-clean and provided both a picture: http://imgur.com/zZp7f

and a video: http://vimeo.com/46105333

What are PS users thoughts on this stone? Am I worried for no reason? Do you think it would look good in the setting I picked out? To me it looks good but I really have an untrained eye. I do currently have it reserved so if everything checks out I will be making the final decision this week. If not I would certainly be open to any better alternatives, as long as it is SI1 or better and eye-clean, H or better in color, 1.0 ct or more, and AGS Ideal Cut along with a good HCA score.

Thanks!

Hearts pic is fine
Yes, painting - is only really a *bad thing* if you know that you don't like it (ie. have seen the stone with your own eyes, compared it to others, etc.) esp w/ higher crown like this stone has.. lots of different opinions on this. Check out this thread (and the video from GOG linked inside, compares a painted stone w/ a "classic girdle" stone)

You're on a tight timeline, if you like the stone and it's a good price and GOG confirms that it's eyeclean to your specifications whatever they are (do you want it to be clean from 5" face-up? 10" sufficient?...) then painting IMO should not make or break the decision. The stone is covered by GOG's lifetime upgrade/trade-in/buyback policy so you've got all those bases covered.

That picture looks STUNNING - I think it will be gorgeous - love the setting too! Everything about the stone points to it being bright and beautiful - all of the tests they did, the picture, etc. Buy it.

Thank you both for the help. I read up more on the painting and it did seem like it was mostly on the crown on this one, which in the article said for super ideal cut diamonds can actually improve optics. Given that I liked the way it looked and it scored very highly on every test I went ahead and took the plunge. At the end of the day if I end up not liking it I can always return it and postpone the proposal. Hope to be able to post up the final results in the Show me the Bling forum!
