I thought it would be so easy to pick our colours but it's ending up being anything but.

Every colour scheme I see just isn't "us" or wouldn't work (ie. They don't have flowers in that colour, BMs look bad in the colours etc). Even poor FFI seems to be at a loss, hehe.

Maybe I'll just have an all-white wedding:P It'll be like "Where's Waldo" to find the bride:P

Please post pics of colours schemes, I seem to need inspiration very badly!

Thanks

I heard somewhere that all-white weddings are all the rage

I''m not very good with coming up with color schemes unfortunately ... but hopefully others will post some good stuff for you.

What time of year will your wedding be? I think that can have a significant impact on your color choices and help us think of ideas.

An all-white wedding would be pretty I think, but I'd feel a lot less special being in the same coloured outfit as everyone else I think, as silly as it sounds.

We'll be having or wedding in May or June.

What about pinks? or Ivory? What kind of flowers do you like? That might help?

dragonfly411: Yeah, I like pink but I worry that it would make the wedding overly "girly". I want a really elegant and sophisticated look. I'm not a fan of ivory since it looks terrible on my colouring, even though my dress would be white but you know

I was considering maybe silver in lieu of ivory?

I really like lilies. That's about the only flower I truly like, all of the other ones are just "ok". Pretty but nothing that makes me go "wow".

Have you heard of that saying, "you can''t please everyone all the time"? This especially applies to weddings. Pick colors that are "you" and everone else will be fine. What colors are you considering that they don''t have flowers for? Or are the flowers in that color out of season??????

I don''t have a lot of inspiration for you, but if you do a search on this site, a lot should come up. Also search photos on Projectwedding.com.

marchswallowbird: Yes, but I also can't please myself with the choice either. I haven't come up with anything that I'm really happy with.

Options:
1) Black, white + silver
2) Black, white + pink
3) Black + white
4) White + silver
5) White + pink
6) Chocolate brown + ice blue (BF likes this one, but there aren't flower for it, unless we added white into the scheme or something)
7) Chocolate brown + pink

I haven't gone as far as researching what flowers are in season when yet.

Chocolate brown is lovely in weddings, and very elegant, my aunt used chocolate brown. We had form fitting chocolate dresses for the bms (meeee) and the cake was chocolate brown and she integrated her other colors. I like the sound of the chocolate with pink or ice blue

dragonfly411: Hehe, that''s funny because when I suggested chocolate brown + pink or blue to my BF he said "That would be elegant and classy. But it has to be chocolate brown though, not too dark." Lol, who is this guy

?

I like the combo but I think that it may suit a fall wedding better, which I don''t want since it rains all fall where we live

I just wonder if brown would be too "heavy" for spring/summer?

My colors are pretty unique so I''ll throw it in-- apple green and dark grey. I''ll try to find a pic.

How about chocolate brown, green (mint), pink, and ivory?

ETA: I don't think chocolate brown is too heavy for spring/summer as long as the coordinating colours are light.

CDNinNYC: That's actually really pretty! I'll run it by my BF, I think he'll like it.

Oh, I also love your ring, hehe.

Those were my colors!

Also, black + white + red works for every season, and is relatively easy to coordinate.

Thanks! I love the ring in your avatar; beautiful!

Here''s another colour combo; it''s not for everyone but I think a blue and red wedding would look great!

what about using a shade of grey as your neutral? something like yellow + grey would look really sophisticated i think. it''s not too heavy for spring and it''s different than the usual brown and black.

Here''s another!

ETA: hmmm, now I''m wondering if it''s looking too patriotic?!?!

This is not much of a picture but it shows what my colors are. My bridesmaids will be wearing cement grey and carrying green flowers.

I LOVE yellow and grey!

ETA: Oops, that was huge. Sorry!

This is the floral arrangement that inspired our color combo of olivey/sagey green, black, and white.

Great suggestions everyone, I love the idea of grey!

Morgie44: That's it, that's the colour scheme! It's so "me" (I wear those colours) and I think it's very elegant and sophisticated! I can't wait to show my BF when he gets home! Thanks so much, so exciting!!

EDIT: I have a folder on my computer for colour scheme ideas and I had a pink + grey combo in there. How did I not notice that before o_O??

If you saw my colour thread, you''d know I like aqua and green...

CDNinNYC: That''s actually really pretty! But I''m totally not outdoors-y so I could hear people joking about me having a "green" wedding, hehe.

Happy to have helped you! I hope your bf likes it too!

CDNinNYC - that was my first choice of colors, but they didn''t quite go with the venue we chose. I love them too! Haha I think I just love all colors...

Morgie44: I think he will

He actually suggested pink before, lol, so it would be a good compromise I think: He picks pink and I pick grey

Hey Morgie, I love all colours too! That''s why I''m having a hard time committing to one colour scheme.

Halo, looks like you have some options to work with. Let us know how your BF likes them. If you need more samples, let us know. I''ve got a bunch more!

Cheers!

Everyone talks about colour, but I found that there was such little proper colour used in our wedding that it didn''t really matter if we had picked them or not. Honestly, the cake, his tie, my flowers, card stock for invitations, and eventually our paper lanterns, were the only coloured things. Have you tried picking a BM dress or flowers that you like and planning around that? It sounds backwards to some, but it''s probably easier since you''re concerned about the flowers.

What about champagne dresses for the BMs? It would still look classy, different from the bride and very easy to pick flower combos and other colours to blend with for favours, theming etc?

EBree: Very nice choices for your wedding, it's a pretty combination! I was considering black + white + red too, but I think that red may be a bit too "intense", I'm not sure how to describe it. It would be easy to coordinate though.

CDNinNYC: I like the blue + red combo, it's very unique. But I'm Canadian and you're right, I think it reads a little too patriotic, hehe.

mimzy: Grey is definitely a good idea. I'm going to show grey + pink to my BF and see what he thinks. Yellow's pretty but it clashes really badly with my colouring

goldenstar: Actually, I really like the grey w/ the light green. It's very fresh!

honey22: I was pondering champagne as well, but I'm not a fan of warm tones since I'm cool and they clash with my colouring, so that would be a concern. But it's definitely a classy option! I'll run it by my BF
