AIGS certificate matching stone?

When you purchase a stone and you get the AIGS certificate with it, how do you really know if that certificate is for the stone you have in hand? Is there a way to verify this information or have it checked?

I tend to check the measurements of the stone versus whats on the cert. If they're way off, its usually what will make me most suspect.

I don't tend to go by the picture on the certs...well...they can leave a lot to be desired. However, as long as they're close enough to look the same I'll go with that.

With AIGS you can also check the cert id online.
