I went ring shopping on Friday at the Gifcenter/Jewelrymart, where I saw a diamond that I liked. I was given a quote and shown the GIA cert with an EX/EX on polish and symmerty.
However, I don''t have the crown and pav angles so I cannot run it through the cut advisor to determinte wheter or not it is a AGS0 or not. I know that the tool is not final and subject to change but I like that I can use it to provides some feedback
I''ve also been keeping my eye on a diamond from James Allen, with the exact same specs as the stone at the brick and mortar store, with the exception that it is 0.3ct smaller and I know all the angles and depths. Running it through the advisor it returns a 0.6 - Excellent rating, or an AGS0.
My question, knowing the above about the two stones is buying from James Allen a safer play since I know that the cut I am getting is a great one?
How heavily should I weight the AGS0 rating when comparing the two stones? In the future in terms of appreciation or value maintainence will an AGS0 provide me with a greater benefit?
Thanks!
