What do you guys make of this plot? I haven't seen a photo of this diamond yet... but does it look really bad? this is for a 1.8ct diamond..

Twinning wisps, my favorite inclusions. Often they are completely invisible to the eye, but comforting to the pocket book.

Only one way to know for sure! TAKE A LOOK AT THE ACTUAL DIAMOND.

So long as you have a good return policy to work with, the only thing you lose is some postage money if you do not like it.

I would rate this one third after the other two based on it's measurements and clarity.

Diamondseeker, why´s that?
It scored 1.2 TIC on HCA ...
and it has a really good spread for its size....
It´s almost on par with the 1.89 in size but its only 1.79!

Although it got ags 000 for cut, light performance, symmetry and polish.... So it should look pretty good no?

Hi OP, this last selection has is close to what is called a 60/60 stone (60 % table and 60 % depth), that's why it's so spready (which is nice cause it faces up big for it's weight). Well proportioned 60/60 stones can be very nice and they tend to be more brilliant (white light return) than fiery (colored light return), than the more balanced look of a classic Tolk cut.

Si2 clarity can be great for the budget while still getting a great size, ask the vendor if it's eye clean and ask them to define it so you are both on the same page (eye clean at 12-18" or do you want eye clean at 3-6"). Also, with Si2 stones, you must make sure the brilliance and transparency haven't been hit due the lower clarity. I haven't looked up all you stone selections, so I'm not sure why this one ranks #3, but my guess it's because of the 60/60 type and lower clarity. There's nothing wrong with this one, per se, especially if you want a spready, ideal cut stone in the size and color you want without busting your budget. Just make sure, you ask lots of questions up front with the vendor and get independently appraised who can do a full work up.

fwiw, I went this way, a J/Si2 for a budget friendly 2 ct. It's eye clean and very beautiful. Very glad I did.

eta Can you get an ASET of this one or an idealscope?

hi Luvdajules:)
heres the aset! it looks good..
can the aset assess whether the inclusions affect light performance?

No the ASET image is computer generated by scanning the diamond.
Using that method a black diamond could have a great looking ASET.

oh right......
CONFUSED.

well.. looks like i need to wait for the work up...

If buying online I would want a trusted expert to vet the stone before spending money on shipping.
Stones with twinning wisps with the same lab grade can be just fine or be a mess at times.

I just prefer the measurements that most of the superideal cuts have, and those are usually going to be closer to your first two stones. I think stones with large tables and smaller crowns are less attractive. I do not like a flat top view from the profile. But it is a matter of preference, and if size is the number one objective, then a 60/60 stone might be preferred.

And, as Karl said, you do not know if the SI2 twining wisps are making the stone less brilliant. Not all vendors will assess that for you.

yup... you guys m be right... i would like a nice balance of brightness, fire and scintillation... so a 60/60 probably won't be the best idea..

The stone is D, s12.. but only 15,000usd... so possibly an E si2, with twinning wisps affecting its optics then... because thats really cheap..

See what the vendor says when he's done all the work ups for the 4 stones i have with him.... taking ages... :( can't seem to hurry him up lol..
