OK, so I recently took the plunge and purchased a beautiful 1.350 H VS1 H&A diamond (you may recall my recent post requesting input). The diamond came with two certs -- a full GIA report and an AGS report providing cut information only ("*****" for the color and clarity, and a GIA report reference). Now I want to have the diamond laser inscribed, and I was told by a local store that the AGS inscription is preferable. The dealer that I bought the stone from, however, will only submit the diamond to GIA for inscription, AND they are in another state.

Unfortunately, GIA indicates they only have a thirty (30) day grace period, wherein you may have the stone inscribed for a nominal charge. Otherwise, you have to have the stone recerted (over $100) and then pay the same nominal inscription fee. AGS, on the other hand, indicates that they will be happy to inscribe the stone (I called them directly), however they will not discuss price with lowly consumers and further require that the stone be submitted by an AGS dealer.

Because the store from which I purchased the stone will only provide laser inscription through GIA (something I can actually do myself), is there anyone out there who knows of an AGS dealer that can assist me? And, if so, what will the total charge be?

If only the stone had been inscribed by AGS at the time the cut analysis was performed!!!

We can inscribe unmounted diamonds with pretty much anything you want. No trademarked logos, however. If you want a GIA or AGS report number on the girdle we need the diamond AND the original paperwork to verify it. Then we follow thier numbers with "AGA" to identify who placed the numbers on your stone. We don't want phoney inscriptions floating around any more than you would.

Price info is on our website. Service is 1 day generally.

You can trust David Atlas to inscribe your stone, he is a trusted appraiser within the industry. The inscription machine at the AGSL is down for the moment, so they're not an option for about six more weeks.
