Hello All. I’m looking to purchase 5.9 mm approx 0.81 ct each diamonds for each ear. Approx. 1.6 ct in total weight. That is a good size on me but I have to do this one diamond at a time because of Budget.
I found one with a very reputable PS vendor known for their excellent cut. The diamond is graded J with medium blue fluorescence. I realize that it is a very polarizing discussion.
I figured with an HCA score of 1.1 and the color a J helped by the slight blue florescence I would at least look at the diamond. It is a good price.
Any concerns with this diamond
Thanks for your input

Medium blue fluo is fine as long as its not hazy. But J is J, if you’re expecting fluo will help, it won’t. You need to accept and be OK with the color itself. And color is 100% preference. You might be OK with it, but don’t expect the fluo to mask the tint, it only help if UV is present and with medium fluo it won’t mask the tint.
I don’t think anyone can help you to analyze this diamond without further information. What’s the depth, table, CA, PA etc. I think its better to upload the GIA certificate, hide the number if you want. You’ll get better advice with giving full information.

I have no problem with fluorescence, and I actually like it. But if you are trying to match two diamonds for studs, I highly advise skipping the fluorescence because you'll really be backing yourself into a corner when later trying to find a matching stone. I would not want one of a pair to have fluorescence and not the other.

Thank you for the advice thus far. HerE are the stats:
Table:56.2%
Depth:61.6%
Crown angle: 34.7 deg
Pavilion angle:40.7 deg
5.94x5.99x3.68 mm J VS2 AGS Triple 0

HCA returned 1.1 with excellent on the three parameters of light return, fire and scintillation.

I figured since I have long dark brown hair and an olive skin tone I can pull off J in earrings. Can I see the difference in color between say an F and J - yes side by side I can. I have a J VS2 e-ring and I can see the tint from the side.
If the diamond exhibits flashes of colored light I think their color grade in theory wouldn’t bother me.
I figured since I have long dark brown hair and an olive skin tone I could pull off the J in earrings especially if they were cut to maximize sparkle.

Edited to ask:
How would I check for haziness under a loupe - is it that obvious?

And say a few months later I found a matching diamond in cut color and clarity would the lack of fluorescence in that one be discernible?

I would highly suggest waiting to buy both as a pair. Its going to be more annoying to try to buy a pair one at a time. I highly doubt medium fluor will be hazy so I wouldn't worry about that at all.

So I have received the diamond. It sparkles a lot. I can see tint when I put it right next to a pair of G studs.
What I lose in color vis-a-vis the G pair of studs I have, I more than make up in size - 5.2 mm vs 6mm.

I know there is going to be a trade off between color size and budget.
Is color such a big deal on earrings?

Also I have never seen fluorescence in diamonds under a UV light. When I did on this one it seems like the diamond turns blue and less transparent under the UV light of the flashlight that came with it. Is that normal?

That is super personal. I think you will get very different opinions depending on who you ask. I know lots of PSers who are happy with J studs, and I think many look great. For me, I needed higher to be mind-clean with color, but most people on PS aren't like that. And it costs me more. Ugh.

So I guess if you are happy with how it looks on you, rely only on your opinion. You're the one wearing it.
