I have some questions regarding the AGS DQR that I''m hoping the experts here can work out for me. The thread that Renae posted about why her report did not have a cut grade (found here) led me to get out my Whiteflash ES diamond''s AGS DQR and take a look at it.
Sure enough, it did not have a cut grade listed either. However, I recalled in an older thread that a poster was able to find an older DQR that had been done for her diamond through AGS''s website and have them send it to her, so out of curiosity I went to AGS Labs to enter in my diamond''s ID number and see what came up. Nothing did, so I tooled around their site for kicks and giggles and looked at their sample DQR, and the sample clearly shows a cut grade listed. What gives? In Here too.
My first thought was that perhaps I have an older DQR and they are now doing them with cut grades, as you can see the sample is listed as done on October 7, 2008. However, my DQR has a date of April 29, 2009.
The other line of prevailing wisdom I saw regarding DQRs is that they will never show a polish/sym grade higher than excellent. this thread as well, and multiple others (probably boring you guys to death with the links by now
).
However, my DQR shows Polish: Excellent, and Symmetry: Ideal. Is this something new?
To sum, everything I read here points that AGS DQR does not have cut grade, yet their sample DQR on their website does have one. Why would their sample not be accurate? Also, the maximum Polish/Sym shown on a DQR being Ex/Ex, yet mine shows Ex/Ideal. Why?
