Hi all,

After months of shopping, my order from Whiteflash arrived and it is absolutely beautiful:
http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-395203.htm#

May be something that I overlooked however, I expected the stone to be AGS0 but I noticed that the DQR scores excellent on symmetry and ''very good'' on polish. So by definition this won''t make the stone a AGS0?

On the Sarin report it is shown to have a AGS proportion grade of 0.
I am happy with the stone, but am just a bit confused.

Thanks,

The AGS grade that you see on the SARIN is based on an older AGSL grading criteria that comes embedded with the SARIN scanner. So under the older system, your diamond would be an AGS0 in all the proportions but get dinged on polish. AGSL changed their grading criteria maybe two years ago and the scanners like SARIN cannot make that call for the newer system. You would have to buy the software from AGSL in order to determine whether it gets AGS0 under the new criteria. And you''re also right, the polish would exclude it from being an AGSL ideal under either the new system or old system even if all the proportions were great. I wouldn''t lose too much sleep over it. You''ve got one gorgeous diamond. You can even call it ideal if you want.

I think your stone is beautiful and it sounds like you educated yourself before this purchase.

I noticed WF has a 1.66 D S2 that give 4 excellents on the Holloway Cut Advisor. It has execellent for both symmetry and polish.

Did you consider this one? Or were you not interested in the S2. Looks like there might be a lot inclusions in there. It also has a 2005 AGS cert.

But I think the stone you got is an excellent choice and if you love the way it looks don''t worry about the numbers.

Thanks to all!
swingirl, yes I in fact checked out the 1.66 D before but it''s unfortunately not eye clean.

WF should be able too tell you what the AGS light performance score was.
My guess is lower AGS0
nice diamond! relax and enjoy!!!

Have a slight problem -- I went to a local appraiser and without providing her the AGS DQD, she analyzed the stone with the following qualities:

Cut: Very Good (instead of ideal/excellent)
Color: D (instead of E)
Carat: same -- 1.54
Clarity: SI2 (instead of SI1)

Clarity is very subjective so that''s ok. I can see the inclusion only if I have my eyes staring the stone from 2-3 inches away and I know about that before I made the purchase.

I am quite concerned about the cut grade however. On one hand I have very strong faith with WF''s quality. On the other hand I can''t undermine the appraiser''s professional opinion and I can''t simply ignore it.

how did the appraiser arrive at that cut grade conclusion?
did you ask?

A family member took the stone to the appraiser. We will call tomorrow to check out her explanation on the cut grading.

the reason I asked is because the stone would defiantly make gia EX
and AGS1 based on the polish grade.
I don''t see a VG grade being right.

Update:
So we contacted the appraiser and questioned why the cut was "very good".
She indicated that she rated it based on the polishing factor.

After we told her that the AGS report gives an excellent on symmetry, the appraiser hesitated and said the stone can be an excellent.

I guess the conclusion is simply that I won''t return to this appraiser again!
I will keep the stone -- thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions!
