Hi,

Does this sound right? I bought an AGS 1 Carat diamond for an engagement ring and here are the specs:

Color: H
Clarity:VS2
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent

Table 40%
Depth: 62%

Now, when it was held up next to a GIA 1 Carat Triple EX, Color G, 57% table, 61% Depth, the AGS one looked far brighter, had more sparkle/fire and overall better. The AGS was also slightly cheaper.

Did I make the right choice?

Um. What shape - modern RB?
You sure about those numbers? Post the rest of them - or better, post the AGSL report number and exact carat weight (x.xxx).

Something is not right with this number.

Nope...can't have a 40 table. Does this diamond have an AGS lab report? I am beginning to think maybe not!

It does, go to AGSL's website and punch in

0006484804
Weight: 1.004

It's not a standard round brilliant it's a fancy round brilliant. Does this help?

If it's a fancy round instead of a MRB, the numbers will not be any use for judging it. We need pictures.

Okay, not a regular round brilliant. It says Jubilant Crown is inscribed on the diamond, so it is a specialty cut and I don't think I have ever seen one posted here, nor have I heard of it. Do post some magnified shots if you can. It would be interesting to see it.

ID Jewelry has apparently carried them:

I hadn't heard of them either... found wireframes here http://www.meyersjewelers.com/diamonds/jcd/
Looks like a standard pav, can't tell where crown angle was measured - not up the kite like a regular RB

If you've compared it to other stones and you like it best then that's the most important thing kevl!

I think they are beautiful. I say go for it!
