At your weddings, how old were the kids who ate the children''s meal option if you had one? We have a major price difference between the adult options and the children''s option, but we never really stated what the age for the children''s meal would be. I just assumed that people would make a reasonable decision. And if I''ve learned anything in this whole wedding planning process, it has to be that I should never make an assumption again.

We just got a response back with 2 kids, aged 8 and 10, who are getting the adult meal option. Although we didn''t set an age, this seems a bit young to me. I''m really angry about it, but now have no idea what to do about it. I realize I am ultimately at fault here because I should have set an age and had it on the response card. But do I really need to pay $40 instead of $10 for these kids to eat?

They are FI''s cousins, and he basically said that although he thinks it''s rude, you can''t tell other people what to eat, so he doesn''t want to do anything about it. And he brought up the good point that if we tell the 10 year old he can''t have the adult meal, would we have to tell the 13 year olds who are in the wedding that they have to have the kids meal too to appease all aunts? I guess I should just let this go and be happy we didn''t invite all too many kids who are at that weird age, but advice to any who are still planning: set an age for your kids meal or else you will be surprised!

I went on a dinner cruise with my parents when I was about 11 and they purchased a child meal ticket for me, not realizing that the meal would be different than the adults. I had chicken tenders while they ate steak and none of us were too pleased. I think of kids meals as being for really young ones so I don''t think 8 and 10 are too young to have an adult meal. Is it possible to give them an adult meal but a smaller portion to reduce the cost?

I think it depends on the kids. I loved adult food, always. And would be been disappointed at 5 years if I got a childrens meal. However, three of John''s neices are in their early teens and won''t eat anything but chicken fingers and ''kids'' food still.

Maybe you can just call them and tell them that since you know some kids are picky, you wanted them to be aware of the fact that there is a kids meal available if either of their kids wants it?
