hi all,
just had my aca set yesterday... now i may just be losing my mind, but:
1) does a diamond generally get a little darker (deep in the pavilion) once it is set?
before i had it set i took the diamond out loose in the evening sun, had it between my fingers so light didn''t come through the back, but it seemed fine - certainly got a lot of fire and i swear i saw less ''darkness'' in there when it was loose. now, it seems as if... how to explain this... like there are more dark facets deep in the pavilion than there were before? am i nuts? (btw - the setting is a 6-prong standard looking head, with a low-profile... for my .66ct stone)
2) once the jeweler set the stone, they (as i watched) polished the ring on a wheel and then i think gave it another coat of rhodium (?? - they hung it from a wire and dipped it in a beaker of solution). but when i got it home and took it out in the evening sun (and also at night indoors), it seemed like from one angle the table was more... ''murky''? again, not sure if i''m losing my mind here or not.
after being set, the diamond just doesn''t seem to have the ''aliveness'' deep in its center. again, maybe i''m just too worried and i''m making all this up in my head. never having done this before, i WORRY that maybe something ''happened''.
good god, i''m killing myself here!
am i nuts, is this common - or is this just the let-down after FINALLY getting everything done and i no longer have to stress about what diamond, what setting, etc... so now i stress about if everything was done right! yeeeeeeeeesh. i think i just need to have a drink and calm down.
thanks for listening...
