After 16 years...

. ..Of not wearing earrings, not even once, I got my new earrings in!

I was sure I was going to have to get them re-pierced. The first one went right in, the other one needed just a bit of coaxing. I'm so happy I get to wear them already!

I feel like this opens up an entire new wardrobe opportunity for me!

Does anyone know if I should leave the earrings in for an extended period of time? I'm thinking to ensure my ears don't get irritated from taking them in and out after years of not wearing earrings. Do I need to care for them any differently or do I just carry on since they never actually closed up?

I put my seconds in again after 20 years when I got some small lab studs. I’ve taken them out twice for cleaning (should of been more often) & not had any problems.
I would leave them for a couple of weeks to begin with.

If the earrings went in without too much effort after all these years, then they should be fine now without any special care.

However, there is no harm in wearing small hoops/sleeps to bed for a peace of mind if it is uncomfortable to wear the studs to bed.

All IMHO and I wore sleepers that were used to pierced my ears without taking them off for months when I was about 11.

They look great!! I think you're probably fine unless you get any soreness/tenderness. just keep them clean and watch for discharge.

Beautiful! When I first got my ears pierced I had lots of irritation and pain and so I stopped wearing earrings and a few years later I had to really push the earrings in to reopen the piercings. I didn't leave them in but for a few hours and I never slept in them. I think if you wear your earrings daily (and no need to wear them for an extended period of time) they should remain viable. Of course keep the earrings and your ears clean and you should be fine. You will know if they become infected which hopefully they will not. But I wouldn't sleep in them as that could cause a myriad of problems, including stretching out your piercings.
