Advise on this princess diamond please.

Unlike a round, it's very difficult to judge a fancy cut from the numbers alone. Ask for a magnified photo and ASET and IdealScope images. They do call it an ideal cut, which is promising.

My main issue with this stone is that you could go WAY lower in color and/or clarity without sacrificing any beauty of the stone. My princess is in fact a VVS2, but that was by accident; my favorite stone within budget just happened to be higher in clarity than I was looking for. The color is I. Try looking for an H/SI1 or something around there. Princesses tend to show color a little more than rounds, so I probably wouldn't go too far below I. This would allow you to either get a bigger rock or save some cash (possibly to put it toward the setting; who knows?). I'm not sure if you're aware that princesses look smaller for carat weight than rounds. But this stone actually has great spread for a princess.

Also, the table is a tad on the large side...not uncommon for princesses, but a good rule of thumb is that the table should be smaller than the depth (OK, I stole that rule from Ellen, so I should give credit where credit is due).

Something like this might fit the bill if it's eye-clean. See the beautiful symmetry of the ASET and IS images? That's what you should look for if you get some images from the Mondera stone!

ETA: Here's another great-looking princess that's actually a little smaller than the one you're looking at, but it's an example of how dropping color and clarity (and size just a tad...not my intention, but it was the one I found) can save you a lot!

JSTAR: Thanks for the info. I guess a part of me wants to stay in the G (maybe H) color range and VS2 and above. I don''t know if it''s nervousness/piece of mind or just lack of knowledge.

Personally, I would rather have the Whiteflash diamond, the cut analysis has been done so you know what you are buying. Also an upgrade policy could apply to this diamond, should that ever be a consideration.
