what do you think--about to buy and we are in need of your expert advice!

1.32
HVS1
cut VG
med fluoresence
polish symmetry VG
61% table
58.6% depth

Has an "extra facet"

9100$
Fair?

We are also looking at a 1.63 J IF 58% table 62.2% depth very good cut for 10,500 but I like the size of the smaller stone....

I take it you are seeing these in person? You should compare it next to a Tolkowsky-proportioned diamond and see which you like better...

to show my ignorance, what''s a Tolkowsky-proportioned diamond?
We are seeing both diamonds in person.

Are those reasonable prices?
I like the smaller stone better (just because of the size--I have 5.5 finger size, and I don''t want something "too big")

But are the prices reasonable?

You will pay a huge premium for IF clarity...you can go down to SI1 and still get a clean stone (assuming you confirm it''s eye clean) and save BIG $, or go for a larger stone.

Also, why settle for VG when EX/ID (AGS) is within your reach...light performance is what diamonds are all about!

Have you got the table and depth measurements mixed up? Either way, I still say you can do a lot better than this. You can''t just compare prices based on colour and clarity, a well cut stone will cost lots more (sometimes thousands more) than a poorly cut stone, and it''s worth it. The cut is what makes a diamond sparkle and have life, a poorly cut stone will look dull and life-less/ Have you considered buying online? You will get a much better cut stone at a great price?

Re the extra facet - I am not 100% sure, so hopefully someone else will chime in, but I believe an extra facet is just a very big culet (pointy bit at the bottom of the stone)? You may not like this look, it may appear as a black spot or hole in the centre of the diamond. Not a great look!

ditto this - no point to pay for IF imho.

An extra facet can be added for a variety of reasons, sometimes to remove a small inclusion, it won't necessarily affect a clarity grade or the diamond's appearance.
