Advice: Stone from one vendor, setting from another - how to set?

I am about to purchase a stone from one vendor and a setting from another vendor. Can anyone recommend how to go about having the stone set into the setting? I would prefer to do it locally (DC area) so that I don''t have to stress about shipping stones around.

I know that in general jewelers who haven''t sold you the stone are reluctant to do the setting because of the liability. Is there any way to insure a loose stone temporarily to ease this process?

If anyone can recommend someone/a jeweler in the DC area who would be able to help, that would also be greatly appreciated!

I could only find one place that would insure a loose diamond (chubb) but only if it was from Blue Nile

. I searched until I found someone that would take full responsibility for the diamond. I take it the setting was not purchased locally?
