Just realized how big those pics are, sorry.
Went to the vet today. He said he has never had a case where the cancer was treated quickly and aggressively become dangerous, but he has also never had a case where the growths did not continue to come back if not treated. The good news is that it is about mid tail so he won't have to worry about it having already spread past that point. We have made the appointment for the surgery for Friday. I just want to have it done and not keep worrying about her and if we are making the right decision, even though we are. Terrible as it sounds, it would be so much easier if she were in pain. We would be helping her and she would understand we did something to make her feel better. I am going to try and get the day off work and I really do like and trust the vet. I suspect this is much harder on her mama then on her. We are going to get lots of pics of her with her semi shaved tail tomorrow night and I will post again Friday afternoon once we have her back home. Thank you again for advice and well wishes, it is so hard making a big decision like this for someone who has no input, even when it is right. Plus, Maggie LOVES attention, even from people who can't actually pet her.

What beautiful kitties! I am sorry that you are going through this, but happy that it seems to have been caught it in time. It probably is way harder on you than it is on her, but know that you are definitely doing the right thing. That's great that you were able to schedule the surgery so quickly. My thoughts are with you and your kitty...I hope she has a speedy recovery!

We just brought her home. She does not seem to realize something is missing yet, but our other cat sure does and it is freaking him out. She is a little loopy, but does not seem to mind sitting, so it can't be too painful. He left about an inch of tail and with the shaving it is both the saddest and funniest looking thing. If she holds still we will get pictures, but at the moment she has to make a few circuits around the house. I am having a much easier time now than I thought. I guess because it is done with and she isn't particularly bothered makes it much easier. Her stitches come out in 2 weeks and other than that, she will not have to see the vet again for a while, which we are all glad about. Thank you again for all your support.

So glad to hear she's home and OK! :appl:

I hope we get to see pictures.

I'm so happy to hear the surgery was a success! She'll be back to normal in no time.

Your kitties are beautiful Brazen and I am so glad you are all back from the surgery and she is doing well! Great news that you took care of it so fast and she will be back to normal in no time. It might take a day or so for your other kitty to adjust as I know whenever we bring one back from having a procedure done at the animal hospital the others freak out a bit. No worries. Everything will be calm again very soon. Sending lots of healing dust your way!!

So glad your kitty is home and is doing well Brazen! I'm also glad you are feeling better, I know how difficult it is to go through something like this.

Oh, and your cats are so beautiful! They make me want to get one!

I'm sorry to hear your cat is sick. I hope it is able to recover soon.

kitty is home: great news! the other cat is also picking up the all the vet smells......happens every time we take one of the cats to the vet, Harley has to hiss at it.......

lots and lots of kitty pets are in order!
