hi guys,

doing research for whats obviously a big purchase i found this site. I''m ready to make my purchase this evening but thought I''d see if you can pick it apart and offer advice on the rock i''m looking at.

from bluenile.ca

ct: 0.73
cut: signature ideal
colour: g
clarity: vvs1
depth: 61.4%
table: 56%
sym: excellent
polish: excellent
griddle: thin-med
culet: none
florescence: none
measurements: 5.80 x 5.82 x 3.57 mm

$4400 (without setting)

advice? comments? thanks!!

So far everything looks fine, but I can''t really say much without the crown and pavillion angles. Any particular reason you went for VVS clarity? You can save money or go larger if you drop to the VS2 or SI1 range and still have a perfectly eye clean diamond. Why pay for what you can''t see?

if i''m reading the report right - crown is 34.5 degrees, and pavillion 40.8 degrees.

the other ones with lower clarity i was looking at seemed to all have feathers (and having someone describe a feather to me as a crack scared me) ... i''ll look a little further to see if i can find lower quality without feathers.

how do the angles look?

Hi Jimmy,

The angles look fine for this diamond. Feathers aren''t necessarily a problem even in SI clarities, an expert vendor would be able to advise you should a diamond you like happen to have a feather.

colour: f
clarity: vs2 (characteristics: crystal, cloud)
depth: 61.7%
table: 56%
sym: excellent
polish: excellent
griddle: Medium, faceted
culet: none
florescence: none
measurements: 5.77 x 5.81 x 3.57 mm

everything is almost exactly the same as the other rock except clarity, colour goes up a notch and price goes down!

ditto, very nice. VS2 is still very very safe and F color will be nice and icey!!

thank you both so much ... i''ll purchase with confidence now!

I know that you''ve already made up your mind... but I would have to say you''ve made an excellent choice... dropping down to still a eye-clean clarity and bumping up to a F and saving nearly 500 in the process is defenitly a good choice in my point of view. This stone should be really nice!
