This is what the hca says about it and looking at the is image id say the same.

Factor Grade
Light Return Very Good
Fire Very Good
Scintillation Very Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 2 - Very Good - Worth buying if the price is right
....
Its just enough off I wouldnt pay top dollar for it.

AGS0 proportions seem to be there allright. Unless you are looking for H&A... this one looks pretty darn good.

How does the price compare to other AGS0 stones around here ? I would not know where to look for quotes lower than this - online or off.

At a quick read, 16k sounds ok for comparale GIA graded diamonds - and those do not come with the extra cut pedigree or AGS let alone detailed pictures. Besides, this is a relatively large stone for the weight (as much as AGS0 allows for spread) - quite desirable for that reason. And it is a clean SI1 - yet another desirable treat.

All in all, this one looks good to me.

Sharm,

- Ana is a pretty smart cookie.
- Still, I''m guessing this is the same one you looked at a bit ago here, and I recommended, given your constraints.
- I DID have a typo in my last post to you, saying it did score under 2 on the HCA. I neglected to include the word NOT...so, if it''s this one...
- although either sarin or OGI may score it as you show here, it comes with an AGS cert, visible at DCD''s website, that scores it a 2.8 on the HCA, with slightly different numbers as those you''ve posted, and when the numbers are in conflict, I think accepted practice is to go with AGS numbers. As Storm says, this still may be OK
- Also, as per my previous note, going with a vendor, you may want to have a backup in mind.
- That previous back up is is still there. Another SI 1, this one an H, represented at the DCD site as "ideal cut" though with a very thin girdle, is this one...
- Not sure to what extent you want to pursue this further, or how easy it may or may not be, for example, to get more info about either of these.
- but having recommended this option to you, (if it even is that same one), just wanted to share these further thoughts.

So...buy at $15,500? or not? let me know so i can make a move....Thanks....S-

BTW, it is the same diamond you pointed out @ DCD...let me know guys...TIA.

Sharm,

I'm just one regular guy, and I think I have a different shopping style than you do.

Although I've mentioned two options that, if it were me -- I would get assistance first in having either Jim, or an independent appraiser compare this one against, as a matter of due diligence, before making a decision -- since this information should be relatively available to you and/or Jim, I would think, without really significant effort, and in consideration of the fact that you are spending a lot of money, however, and with that said...

recognizing you want to go forward, appreciating Pricescope in its wisdom has changed the default variables here to include VG in the options that will automatically come up, and seeing the idealscope on this one, and that it looks generally pretty good (I don't read those things too well)...yes, I think you could do pretty well with this one.

But that's just my two cents, and I don't realize as well as you do that you're under the gun.

Best wishes!

P.S. It may be helpful to note that the owner of DirtCheapDiamonds seems to have implicitly allowed, if not encouraged, the general strategy I''m suggesting here. If you accept the reasonableness of the HCA as a guide, which is perhaps what suggested the diamond you''re looking at to begin with, it is at least possible (Jim Schultz may know at the outset) that just by picking up the phone once or twice to get information about those other 2 options he sells, he may be able to get their sarin data from his suppliers. You could establish the protocol that if neither scores lower on the HCA when reviewed, then just go forward. (Alternately, if their numbers suggest they show promise, yes, the next step would be to look at them; remember, this exercise is mostly being suggested because pick #1 has a relative count against it, though in the end, you may determine you''d be optimizing with it). But without asking, it seems you just wouldn''t know.

Sorry to beat a horse, dead or alive. (Again, just my 2 cents).

Best wishes,

Sharm,

Yes, you should buy the stone. The diamond is absolutely spectacular and the price being offered is well below market for an AGS diamond of this caliber and quality.

Of course I might have a bias, since the diamond is mine :)
