Hi Folks,

I''m new to this forum but I must truly thank everyone here for all providing a realm of information for a newbie like me.

I have found a round brillant diamond of the following characteristics and would like your opinion on whether is will be a good buy.

Measurements: 6.01 - 6.03 x 3.69
Depth: 61.3%
Table: 55%
Crown: 34.5%
Pavilion: 40.8%
Girdle: Thin to Medium (faceted)
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Clarity: VVS2 (Characteristics - Pinpoint)
Color: F
Cut: Excellent (GIA graded)
Fluorescence: None
I ran it through the Holloway Cut advisor and it gets a score of 1.2

I would truly appreciate any comments that you have on this gem.

Hi Guys,

Really appreciate your views before I have the plunge to purchase this diamond.

Hi there! It''s the weekend, so the board is a little slow. You will have some responses soon....

numbers are good.
Is this an internet stone?
Do you have any pictures?

I''m trying to get some pictures from the vendor and will post them online once I got them. As a diamond newbie, the statistics looks good to me. But of course would like to hear the views from the experts and professionals out here.

Cheers,
John

Certainly no expert but the table seems on the smallish side but could generate a lot of fire.

A picture would help.

Hi John.

The numbers look great, it is likely this diamond is an excellent performer. I take it you prefer VVS clarity? You could go lower and still have a very clean diamond, but this of course is a personal preference.

Hi All,

Thank you for your comments. I have decided not to go ahead with the purchase as the dealer does not seems to be very honest with me. Any way, I have spotted another potential diamond and would appreciate your comments once again. This time I managed to get an image of the diamond from the dealer. The price that he is quoting me is around $4,200 - 4,300. All opinions are welcome.

the latest one is a exellent diamond.
Would likely qualify for an AGS0 in light performance as well as a GIA EX.

Hi strmrdr,

That is a very assuring response. Am I getting a good value for money for this stone?

I was thinking if there is anyone in this forum who is kind enough to help me input the specs into the Diamcalc and provide me with the results? Would definitely appreciate your aid in this.

Thanks.

Cheers.

the IS image tells you more than DC would without a full 3d scan.
As far as price do a PS search for simular stones and compare prices.

this is completely a personalised choice, but may i suggest if u are concerened about price to drop a level or 2 in clarity - for the majority of ppl vs1 vs2 is completely eyeclean, as far as i''ve learnt, this way u could get a larger stone, or stay in the same price and gain some

of course, if you prefer the vvs level, thats kewl aswell.

may i ask is it for an engagement ring?

Yup. You are right. This is for an engagement ring. My significant other is rather small in built hence she prefer something in the range of a 80 pointer. Anything larger would look abit weird on her fingers.

Actually I had a budget of $5500 for the diamond alone. Hence, for an .80 range stone, I can afford to go high on the clarity and colour.

My priority is the cut which from my understanding, determines the performance of the diamond. (correct me if I am wrong)

The stone you have chosen is excellent. And yes, the cut is the most important factor in the beauty of the stone.
