Hi all,

I am a few hours away from purchasing this diamond and wanted some last minute guidance. I looked at this diamond on Saturday and it looked great to me. The diamond is very clean and even the GIA report only shows a few pinpoints. The specs look alright to me too. I forgot to ask to look through an idealscope and other tools you may know about, which may be relevant to emerald/step cut diamonds. The "I" color bothered me on paper a little bit, but after it was set in a temporary setting next to an "E", I really had to struggle to tell which is which. Is there anything else I should look at/ask about before I purchase this diamond??? Thanks in advance for your help!

Ok, I may be in the minority here, but here goes: I think you could keep looking and find another ec that has slightly less clarity (up to vs2) and put the money toward better color. While there is nothing wrong with I color, I found that after getting an ec home, you can really see color easily in natural light. I personally would not go below an F for an ec. Do you have a good upgrade policy where you are purchasing from? It''s great that you are looking at them--fancy cuts have such personality! I''ve owned an F and an E ec--I just love them. I''ve upgraded through many shapes and sizes through the years and ec still remains my favorite.

If you''ve seen it in person and you love it, who care if is an I!!!

I have an asscher Ering that is also and "I" and honestly, I cannot see color in it. My friend has an E emerald cut, and like you, I couldn''t really tell the difference.

I opted for clarity (vvs2) instead of color, and don''t regret it a bit.

A well cut I is never a problem.
