the price is?

Pass.

I would love to target a 1.5, but unfortunately that is not in the cards...I am also looking at K SI1 which I have seen in person. If you look at the cert there are 5 twinning wisps on the table (other minor inclusions on the edges that will be covered by the bezel setting). When I louped it I could only find 2 of them and none without the loupe. I have compared it to other GIA K's and it seems to be slightly less yellow although I could see a difference in color between it and a K and I. This diamond is at a store and I know that it is overpriced ($9450 before tax) but it just sparkles. The HCA # is 3.2 which is better than the above diamond's, but like I said I know its overpriced so I am having a hard time pulling the trigger on it.

Measurements - 7.73 - 7.80 x 4.68mm
Cut - Excellent
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Very Good (on the serin report this came out to be excellent)
Fluorescence - Faint

Proportions
Depth: 60.3%
Table: 60%
Crown Angle: 32.0°
Crown Height: 12.5%
Pavilion Angle: 41.4°
Pavilion Depth: 44.0%
Star Length: 55%
Lower Half: 80%
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick, Faceted (3.5%)
Culet: None
GIA Cert 1146892558

Whichever diamond I choose will be set in a 14K yellow gold bezel setting so I am ok to go in the faint yellow color range.

What is your budget? K+ 1.7+?

Around $10,000...I'm hoping for a J+, SI1+ or eye clean SI2 (haven't seen any of those yet), yeah 1.7ct+ (not my choice) but the K I mentioned before has a pretty big diameter which is noticeable when compared to other 1.7ct's.

Again THANK YOU ALL for your input and advice!

The only thing about these diamonds are that they are around the same price as the K I have looked at in person and really like. The only reason I haven't bought it is because people have told me that that is too high of a price for a K SI1. Again it looked completely eye clean to me and I was only able to see 2 of the twinning wisp inclusions in a loupe. I attached the GIA report for the 1.71 K SI1 that is in question. The UGI scan came back triple excellent (cut, sym, polish) and in the little scale on the bottom it was excellent, very good (on the cusp of excellent), and excellent...I think it was brilliance, fire, scintillation, but I could be wrong. The middle one was the one on the cusp.

Price: my state tax rate and my local sales tax rate differ by several percentage points, enough to make a difference in such a large purchase.

JA gives a PS/wire discount, as well

On the one are your local store, do you have the numbers from the Sarin? That diamond has a low crown angle, combined with the slightly large table will probably result in lower fire. The high pavilion angle that goes with it may cause color entrapment. That kind of cut usually is less expensive than a Tolkowsky-style cut, but they are spreadier (face up larger.) There is nothing really wrong with it, though, if you like it.

So yeah the fire came back practically on the line for very good/excellent. So you don't think that I would be overpaying?

Also, to take into account the taxes, yes I would pay sales tax, but she is quoting me a great price on the custom setting. If I were to buy online and not pay sales tax all the other places have quoted me double for the custom setting so either way I will be paying about the same price in the end if I go with another diamond that is in the mid $9000 range.

I'd probably contact IDJewelry and see what they can do for you and get a quote. There are more, cheaper stones out there, just not at the vendors that have pictures with their listings.

Yes.

OK will do.

I mean I love the "spreadier-ness" of that diamond and how it faces up bigger. Also, I had 5 stones out and my girlfriend's best friend picked that one when compared to all the rest. The colors were I,K, and J and the clarity ranged from VS2 - SI2. I took it as a good sign, but the price is really bothering me since I feel like like you said there are better diamonds online, but no pictures...

This is kind of similar, this is about the low end of the price range, from what I see.

VG symmetry instead of EX. It could be a lower K, or not be eye-clean, though, which would drop the price.

I'd prob see what IDJ's quote comes in at.
