Advice on this diamond...please

I really need some help here. I found this diamond and would like to know what you think

On the brillance meter it mostly measured very high. The price is about $4,500. I really wanted a carat but with my budget ($5,000) this is what I came up with. I have read that an exellent cut will make the diamond appear bigger. I wear a 4.5 ring so I think I have that going for me...as far as how it will appear on my hand. Please, please advise!

In order to give you some constructive input, we''d need at least the crown/pavilion angles data. The data you posted sounds promising, though

I would love to have a bigger budget but I think I am maxed out at $5,000. Which was $3,000 then $4,000.

Look, F/VS1 does not sounds like a "budget" decission... I really doubt you would find VS1 different from VS2 and that you might ever meet someone capable to guess F from E or from G color grades by looking at the ring. Simply put, these rades were not meant to describe how the diamond looks and are far too narrow for that.

I am not as much focused on the "carat mark", so your choice looks great, except for the cost. There shouldn''t be no need to go over budget with this - the ring will do its job beutifully for 3-4k as well.

How about this:

6mm F SI1 AGS0

If the proportions do not sound convincing enough (AGS0, HCA 2.2 - do sound good to me, otherwise I wouldn''t be talking), you can always ask for IdealScope or exercise that return policy.

What setting do you have in mind ?

Hi Ana, Thanks for your help. I like the platinum settings, a plain band...no side stones ect. I wasn''t really looking for a VS1 I just came across it. I wasn''t looking for a H&A either. I want a very nice stone with an excellent cut. I dont want to pay for what I cant appreciate without a microscope. So, do you think I am wrong to pay $4,500 for this? Should I keep looking?

that diamond definitely looks promising, but i wish the pav angle was 40.9 instead of 41. nitpicking.

anyway, i like that H SI that aljdewey posted, i had an H in a platinum setting and it was stunning. now I have a J in a platinum setting and trust me, the metal does not make the diamond look anything but beautiful.

i would get the 1c H SI for similar money (maybe you can get the vendor down to 4500 to make it comparable) rather than paying for VS clarity.

but that first stone you found is not bad at all. I would use that same $$ to get something a bit bigger because for me, mental shrinkage sets in fast!

But if you are sure that the stone size is fine for you then that first stone is not a bad buy.

If you can get pix of the stone it would be great!

The price doesn''t look wrong to me at all. But.. well, VS1 would not show without a loupe so I just thought you could be spending less on that F/Si1 or similar.

Blu, I''m basically in the same boat as you. I''m looking for a 1 ct with a budget of $5K. I can find lots of stones that are F SI1 in this price range, with excellent for ideal cuts. Tables and depths are all in the range of an ideal cut. Don''t settle for less and 1 ct if you''re willing so spend $5K. If you want, I''ll post some links to a few stones that I''m considering.
