Overall I'm looking for something with good cut and more towards deep purple than blue. Browsing on-line, I don't feel like I'm finding much. Open to other suggestions as well. This is intended as a right hand ring, and will celebrate the birth of my daughter in December. Not on a strict time line, but feel like I've been looking since June for the right stone. Located in NYC, so suggestions for vendors who might have stock also welcome. Thank you!

Honestly? I'm not loving the saturation on that stone. But, I'm extremely picky when it comes to Tanzanite (my favorite stone). Try Paraiba International in NYC. Ask for Adam, he is great to work with. http://www.paraibainternational.com/

I can probably guess where this Tanzanite is for sale and if I'm right it's probably a decent stone. However just looking at the still from the video you've provided above, the lighting is VERY bright which means I suspect the stone will be darker in person than it appears in the video. From your description I'm guessing you're looking for something not too dark? If this turns up and is a bit darker will you still like it do you think OR is the colour in the video the exact colour you're looking for?

Two other places to try (and I've bought Tanzanite from both) are:-

www.lapigems.com
www.multicolour.com

Lapigems tend to specialise in the higher end Tanzanite - which can be a bit too dark for most people.

Multicolour has a wide range.

Yup, and yup. I believe they've received more Tanzanite recently too.

Thank you all for the push in perhaps a better direction. I will contact paraiba.

Lovingdiamonds-you've got me a bit concerned because this isn't from a video still, but wondering if it was originally? So also likely not the cutter you are thinking of. I do like the color, and if it is darker/more saturated that would be great.

Tanzigrrl and Harriet- I do see the difference in quality of cut right away when looking at Paraiba's site.

I bought my 8.56 carat cushion-cut Tanzanite from Adam. He was so helpful, friendly, and patient and he sat there with me and my husband for over an hour while I sorted through his Tanzanites looking for the perfect one. I brought it home and I think I stopped my jeweler's heart when he saw it. It is a stunner!!!
