advice on tacori setting

Hi there! I''ve been lurking on the forums for a few days now, and have learned heaps so far. Very cool community here-- I''m so glad I found you. Anyhoo-- BF and I have started the e-ring process(yay!) and I''ve got my heart set on the Tacori 2565RD9 in 18K WG. I know the pave stones are G VS1, but was wondering if an Ideal or VG RB I center stone would work for the ring (the sales rep at Reed''s told us anything below H would be seriously pushing it). Cut is probably the most important C for me, because I know it''s possible for a stone less than a carat in weight to have a width very close to one (thank goodness)... but BF would love to get at least a carat

-- and in many cases an I color RB will give more wiggle room in the budget.

Color is definitely a matter of personal taste and how sensitive you are to color. When I upgraded my RB from H to an I I couldn't really tell too much and the change in color didn't bother me. I mean it wasn't as "icy white" as the H but it's not like it's more yellow either (if that makes sense). I personally don't agree with your jeweler. I'm actually waiting for my tacori and I think it's getting here sometime next week .

That setting is absolutely gorgeous btw!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so obsessed with tacori!

I think you''ll be fine with a I center stone since there isn''t too much pave and the stones are very small. Although you''ll still probably be able to see the warmth of the I itself, I don''t think the G colored pave will be something you have to worry about as long as you are comfortable with an I stone in the first place. Great choice in setting btw, like fabcrab, my tacori is getting here sometime next week too!

there are a bunch of gals here with J stones and have pave with higher color melee. if the stone is well cut, you shouldn''t be able to see much if any difference at all. of course, color is personal and some will/some won''t so you just have to find out what your eyes see.

I''m one of them! I have a 1.5 J RB solitaire, and the stones in my wedding band are all G-H in color. The color difference is seriously unnoticeable.

If this is true then you have come to the right place! If you get an ideal cut stone then you don''t have to worry about the color issue as much and can get an I or maybe even a J and not see a difference from your melee. You may be able to get a .92ct that will look like a 1ct but save lots of $$.
When you start seriously looking for stones, let us help you, ok? There are so many people on here who will go to great lengths to help you get the best stone within your budget, it really is a great "place".

I have tried on that Tacori and it's really lovely!

Do you plan on purchasing online? In the mall stores I have seen poor and fair cut stones in H and below that were very yellowish- so maybe if you're buying from Reeds, below and H is pushing it? I have no idea of their quality. I have seen the quality of Whiteflash, Good Old Gold, etc. Take a look at these well cut J and K color stones from PSers. Cut makes a HUGE difference.

After visiting the "Show me your ring" forum-- and all the gorgeous I and J colored stones-- I was a bit skeptical of the sales associate''s advice. I knew I''d get the real deal from PS.

DD-- I will most certainly be taking up that offer for help

I''ve gobbled up so much info in the last few days just from browsing the forums, so I can only imagine what will come my way when I start narrowing down center stones! As for being from Britain- the accent would be fabulous- but I''m actually from Maryland, right outside of D.C.

sera-- That''s a great point about mall stones (I hadn''t even thought about it). I would much rather purchase a stone online, and so far I''ve read wonderful things about GOG, WF and ERD (to name a few)... so I know I have quite a selection to choose from.

The 2565RD9 is a beautiful ring and the diamonds are small enough that you could get away with an "I" color center stone in my opinion, no problem. It would be a different scenario if the ring was a three stone with accent diamonds that were half the size of the center stone or something like that, but you're fine in this scenario.

By the way, if you're working in the realm of a one carat center stone, the style number you want is 2565 SM RD 6.5 which is a slightly scaled down version of RD9 built to accomodate a round brilliant cut center stone measuring in the neighborhood of 6.5 mm (usually 6.0 - 6.7 mm). The RD9 option is built to accomodate a round brilliant cut center stone measuring between 8.5 - 9.5 mm. They are different selling prices so you'll want to take that into account when working out your budget.

My Fi went with an 1.12 F si1 and G''s in the plat setting. It made no difference, I am very color sensitive and my fist stone was an H and I saw the yellow from the side only, but next to the setting stones I never saw a difference. I think the sales person just wants to spend more money on the color, so if you see and I that you love and it very white face up, then go for it!

I think you will be fine with what you choose.
