Advice on selling a Tiffany ring

Hi all, been lurking around here a while and would like some opinions on selling this ring. A loved one who is going through a difficult time has asked me to help sell her Tiffany Legacy engagement ring; I know we won’t get close to sticker price for it but I want to help her get as much out of it as possible.

I know a bit about diamond valuation but have no experience with luxury jewelry brands and how brand prestige affects the equation (I can only imagine a Tiffany ring retains more value than a non a Tiffany ring). How do I determine what is an appropriate asking price? What is the best venue for selling for someone who is inexperienced? (Auction? Consignment? EBay?) She is ok with a bit of waiting but would like it sold fairly fast.

Specs: 1.17 ct cushion cut centre stone (H/VVS1), 1.49 total ctw. Original packaging and paperwork. I believe the ring is over 20 years old and I can’t tell from the photo she’s sent me of it if its condition, but I’m happy to get it cleaned and repaired for her if it helps fetch a higher price.

Go on ebay and look for Sold Tiffany items close to what she has. That should give you an idea of what people are paying.

Also, look at TheRealReal for similar.

The price will most likely dictate how fast it sells.

Others on PS know more about resell and the Tiffany brand...just thought I'd throw a few ideas out.

If you want it to be checked and any work required done prior to selling only allow Tiffany to work on it.
The branding is very crucial and I would stick with The Real Real or similar (not eBay) for this piece.
There is a safety element as well as vetting on all levels involved in selling and it’s best to go through an option like The Real Real where everyone is protected in all ways.
