Hi, this is my first post.... just have a query about princess cut diamonds.
i have a .65 brilliant cut diamond in my engagement ring, but dh and I have seen a ring that I''d love for my right hand.
It has a princess cut as the centre stone. I''ve tried on 1 carat brilliants before, and love that size.
I''ve read princess cuts seem a bit smaller for carat weight, so would a 1.4 carat princess seem as big as a 1 carat brilliant?
The only stats I have for the diamond we''re looking at are that it''s G, VS1, and 6.27x6.18x4.54 and GIA certified.
1.4 ct sounds big to me, but just wanted to check it would be as big as I''m expecting!!!
Thanks for any help,
Kate

your 1.4 princess would be bigger than a 1 ct round in area.

Thanks for the quick response!
My only criteria for the right hand ring is that it''s big and chunky, and 1 carat seems big to me! I''m in love with it already!

It is best to compare well cut stones, as lesser cut Princess may face up larger or smaller than a well cut round for example, so be sure to check out the actual size of the diamond you are considering to be on the safe side and get a true picture of the size in reality.
