I have a hold on a diamond and need some advice on whether it''s a good choice. I think all of the measurments are good - except the depth (it''s a bit shallow). There is a bit of the window effect - but I have seen that in almost every diamond. There is no bow-tie. I can''t see a fisheye (except a very small one in bright sunlight) The diamond is extremely pretty, but wanted advice on whether or not it''s a good choice:

EGL-Israel cert (I''m aware of their grading reputation)
1.84 VS1, Color I (independent appraiser said it is more of a , he verified all the rest of the info)
9.65 x 7.14 x 3.99
total depth: 55.9%
total width: 59%
crown height: 13%
pavilion depth: 35%
girdle: slightly thick, faceted
polish: VG
symmetry: VG
Culet: N
Price: $10K

Thx for your help!

Welcome to Pricescope,

I take it an independant appraiser has already checked this diamond out? What was his opinion on the colour and clarity? Unfortunately, we can't tell much by numbers, really we would need pictures and other images to be able to help. But if you love this diamond, and it has been checked out with a truly independant appraiser to your satisfaction, then it is worth considering if you are happy.

Hey there, I have an EGL Israel diamond that I love - so if you''ve seen it & you love it, you should go for it. One question though - what color did it appraise at? It looks like it didn''t come up when you typed it in.

The cert said color "I" but the independent appraiser said "J." He agreed with the clarity, however. I can see some warmth to it, especially when compared to my mom''s F color stone. I am more worried about it being too shallow (I''ve read an oval should go no lower than a 56-57 total depth and this is a 55.9) and how prevalent the "window" effect is. Should I be concerned about it (the appraiser doesn''t address windows).
The mm size is nice - I saw some 2 carats that basically looked the same.
Thx for your help!

Ditto
Each oval diamond is unique in shape: for the same carat weight some will be longer/shorter/deeper/shallower so the best way to judge an oval is to see it.
With EGL-Israel independent appraisal should give you peace of mind as well as ensuring that you do net get any nasty surprises afterwards.

I wouldn''t worry about it. I am looking at ovals myself right now and most I have seen with depth over 65 look somewhat dark all over. I have been looking at ones with depth of 57-60 that are very pretty, so I am sure 55.9 is not a problem. Especially if there''s no bowtie! I have only seen about 3-4 ovals so far without bowties (and I have seen many), so be excited about that.
