Advice on Feather Inclusion

Hi everyone,

I'm helping a friend to locate the perfect diamond for her engagement ring and was wondering if you could kindly share your opinion on clarity for the following stone:

Would you be concerned about durability and the location of the feathers, being that the largest feather is touching the girdle?

Also, if you had to choose between the stone above and the stone below, which would you prefer? The price difference is very small and I understand that VVS1 is different from VS1 and there is a size difference of 0.102ct:

Would the feathers on the VS1 stone make you decide to go for the VVS1 instead?

I wouldn't be worried about a feather in a VS1 ever or even in a lower grade from a respected seller like Brian Gavin. I also wouldn't do an I/VVS personally, I would look at G-H/VS2-SI1 instead. I don't personally see the point in overpaying on clarity beyond being eye-clean, but some people see warmth in an I color. I agree that some people will see color in an I, and you can find an VS2 or SI1 stone that is eye clean with a higher color. It would important to know whether the wearer is color sensitive, or has extra eagle eyes.

No, would not be concerned about the feather...I would upgrade the color vs. the clarity if I were going to upgrade anything.

I personally would be interested in the 1.25 H/SI1. Ask WF for a video on the hand (I prefer not in a ring holder). You could
also ask for a pic next to an I-colored stone to see the difference.

Agree with what others have said! No concerns about the feather, but would consider lowering clarity

Because of the BG sale right now, the BG 1.195 H/SI1 is $5279 versus $6150 for the Whiteflash H/SI1. I haven't worked with either vendor personally. Do people think it's worth $871 more to go with the Whiteflash option? If it were me I would save the money or put it towards the setting unless Whiteflash had a setting I wanted that BG did not, but I'm wondering if people here who have experience with the vendors would do something differently.
