Advice on eternity bands

I do agree that the size of an eternity band is a matter of taste. But many people like the e-ring and the w-band to be the same thickness (or height) off the finger. If you get an eternity band with large stones, it is likely to sit higher than the e-ring shank, and the diamonds might scratch the e-ring prongs. My band with the 10 point stones (Memoire) sits low enough to work with the e-ring, but that 15 point band did not fit with it at all. It was just a bit loose on my e-ring finger and a bit too snug on my right hand, so that is why I didn''t keep it.

Wonderful thread!!! Firstly, thank you Sharon for starting this, bc I have been working on my own eternity band project and have gained a lot of insight from a few posts on here. Secondly... Good to know you are in Australia!!! I am getting married in NZ and am trying to plan Australia into the trip and could def use some help from the locals on the board!

PS... I don't want to threadjack but if a new thread is started or needs to be started please tell me!!! DS I saw you had some experience with .15 pointers. I am working on an eternity band as my wb and apperently .15 pointers are the smallest I can get for cushions. I have no desire to wear it next to my ER, but I still don't want anything bulky. Did you take any pics of the one you had? Or have any words of wisdom! LOL

CR, I would start a new thread so you get more answers that way - I''m sure all us many Aussies now on the board will be happy to help!

Sharon, if you return something I think you can apply to get the duty back. I know I did, and got it. However my transaction was done entirely by mail, unlike yours.
Also your taxes will be 10% GST and 5% duty - but like Dee mentioned you may be exempt if you''re travelling? Just call your local customs office to ask.

Hi Sharon, you are going to have so much fun jewellery shopping in LA (word of advice though, leave the darling husband and the children at the hotel). They get too bored I know mine did. We went to Hawaiii (Waikiki last March and I was determined to get to a US Tiffany's and Harry Winston, Ala Moana). I was in heaven absolutety amazing. So sorry now I didn't buy anything at Tiffany's our dollar was almost parity at the time. It was so much cheaper than our Tiffany's in Collins Street. Nevermind a good excuse for another holiday!!!!!!!!

You ladies have got me a bit concerned with all the talk of eternity bands. I am considering an eternity band - approx 1.80ct 6 x 30 pointers, at the moment from a Melbourne jeweller, do you think the diamonds are too big to go with a solitaire setting? I could always just wear it on it's own. If it didn't suit I would just have to get a smaller band more suited, now that wouldn't be too much of a tragedy now would it.....

Hi Monnyjay,

think twice about the 6 stone because it would be a shame if it didnt work as an eternity band by itself or as a wedding band???

Usually bands have an odd number of stones, 3, 5, 7 etc.

And things are expensive here in Aust. Im sure that a ring with 6 * 30 pointers is costing alot. Make sure you have tried one on and it suits your needs 100%, is comfortable etc.

I haven't seen the others, but can say that the Memoire rings are perfection! I have one from the purity collection and I love it. The diamonds are so sparkly and the band sits very low, so it is comfortable and doesn't scratch my solitare. I would highly recommend Pearlman's. They are excellent to work with and were very fair with pricing. Good luck! There are so many choices! I think when you see " the one," you will know! Also, Memoire has a lifetime upgrade policy!!!

Soon2B,

is there a place that I could check out the Memoire in LA, Las Vegas, Orlando or Hawaii?

Sharon101, I would think there would be a Memoire retailor in one of the states you listed. I would try to get on Memoire''s website, and see if it will list the stores in those states that carry the brand. ( I just tried to check for you, but it wasn''t letting me on the site at the moment!) I didn''t have any stores close to where I live that carried what I wanted, so I worked with Pearlman''s and they were great. They sent me several rings to look at. That was a huge help to be able to have the ring a few days to try with my e-ring in the comfort of my own home! No pressure or rush like there can be when you are in a store. It pretty much sealed the deal for me! Sorry I''m not much help! I hope you find what you are looking for! Keep us posted!
