Advice on Diamond

I am looking to purchase a Marquise Diamond with I color and VS2 clarity. The size is 1.11 carat from an estate jewelry store. What factors would you consider when buying from an estate jewelry store and how much would you pay?

As with any diamond I would want to know about the cut. However, since it is a fancy cut, it can and should be judged with the eyes as well. Check it over carefully for a bow tie in many different lights. Find out who graded it an I VS2.

Price would depend on the diamond's setting, the quality/trustworthiness of the lab that graded it, and the overall beauty of the diamond (visible bow tie, quality of cut, etc).

I checked it out and there is no bowtie. The person who graded the diamond is a GIA graduate but it does not contain a certificate.

I would want it independently appraised in that case.
