A vendor has presented me with the following recommendations for the Ritani Endless Love Setting.

Option 1 is significantly more expensive that the other 3 options. The salesman reports that option 1 is the best deal.

My concern is that I am unable to find similar cut stones to option 1 to determine if the asking price is reasonable. From searching the web, the depth and table of this particular stone appears somewhat unusual.

I am hoping to get some advice from others on how to approach choosing between these diamonds. Also, any ideas on what pricing would be appropriate for the diamonds below would be greatly appreciated.

Should I be concerned about the depth and table of option 1?

1. 1.02 ct. G color VS2 clarity GIA cert polish EX Symm EX depth=57% table=68% 5.94x5.84x3.35mm

2. 1.02 ct. H color VS2 clarity GIA cert polish EX Symm EX depth=72% table=62% 5.42x5.42x3.93mm

3. 0.96 ct. G color VS2 clarity GIA cert polish EX Symm EX depth=70% table=61% 5.45x5.44x3.82mm

4. 0.91 ct. G color VS2 clarity GIA cert polish EX Symm EX depth=70% table=61% 5.33x5.33x3.73mm

I think you have to have more information and pictures of the stones to even begin making a decision. I just wanted to mention that Pearlman''s has some outstanding asscher stones in Daniel K settings that are currently priced at about half retail. The settings are very fine quality.

The first one is one I wouldnt touch with a 10 foot pole.
Find a dealer that knows asschers.
The others are too deep for the table size and should carry a discount.

GOG is a Ritani dealer and can hook you up with a kicken asscher too.

exellent option also...

The vendor is a very reputable, honest dealer according to this forum.

But, I''m concerned when I hear comments about "not touching with a 10 foot pole" the diamond that is being advised to purchase.

Is there any reason why option #1 would be strongly recommended by the sales person other than profit margins?

there are some very good vendors that just don''t know asscher cuts.
The might be fine for other shapes but have no clue when it comes too asschers.

large table + shallow depth is guaranteed too have a flat crown and suck.

Reading the vendors mind they are likely thinking... wow great spread on that stone...
Which is great if you dont care about performance and looks and all you care about is size.
It is a classic trap with step cuts.

A 60% table and 57% depth would be worth getting crown height and pictures of but 68/57 is gonna suck.

Thanks for your valuable input.

You seem very knowledgable. Perhaps you can help recommend a diamond for me?

I am looking for something in the 0.75 - 1 carat range for this setting. I would like to find a decent stone that will look nice for about $4500

I like the ones DiamondSeeker posted. Also, GOG is another good options! Storm is good w/asschers!

daniel k does have some amazing asscher rings. i just bought a daniel k ring from pearlmans closeout section myself. pearlmans also carries Ritani and can source a daniel k asscher for you which would be amazing in the endless love setting as well.

Goodoldgold is also a great vendor with amazing asschers so either would be a good choice.

Strm is way more than very knowledgable -- he''s the asscher expert on this forum...
I wouldn''t buy an asscher without his "kicken" rating... he really knows his stuff.

Do some searches here on "asschers" and you will get a wealth of info that will help you make an informed decision.

Good Luck!

You really need to work with a vendor who knows asschers but here are some suggestions on ones too get called in for pictures:
1.01 H VS2 67.3% 61% GIA tk-vtk no vg ex 5.66-5.59x3.76 $3622
1.00 H VS2 69.4% 58% GIA sl thk-thick no vg vg no 5.45x5.39x3.74 $3806
0.91 G VS2 67.8% 62% GIA med-sl thk no vg vg no 5.51x5.44x3.69 $3799
0.91 G VS2 65.4% 60% GIA sl thk-thick no ex ex no 5.41x5.38x3.52 $4259

Those prices are approx. a full service dealer might or might be able too match them.

This one with an inclusion under the table I wouldnt bet money on it being eyeclean.
The other has the inclusions off too the side so it might be eyecleanish.
Face up doesnt count like with rounds they have to be eyeclean for about 30 degrees of tilt the way step cuts work.
With step cuts the more tilt the easier the inclusions are too see.
