Advice on a wedding band to match Eternity Ring.

Let me give you a little background. I proposed to my wife to be back in December and we are going to be married in October, and we are very excited. When I proposed I gave her an eternity ring as an engagement ring. We are both architects and we both have a taste for very simple clean lines and elegance, a real total object. I was very nervous, because my wife to be is quite picky and even more simple and modern than myself. She had never before taken an interest in diamonds, and I knew a solitaire simply wouldn't do, it had to be something that was a total object, meaning it was nice from all angles, and to sort of protruding bits. I felt it should be diamonds, so I selected a platinum 1.67ct channel set princess eternity ring from Facets. They were great, I even picked it up in person. And it was a smash hit with my fiancee. She actually likes diamonds now, I think. (blaspheme on this site, I know).

So that was wonderful, but now I must follow up with a great wedding band. We have discussed it a bit, but shopping for rings exhausts her with all the wedding planning and such. We do want something she can wear with her engagement ring. I know it's common to stack eternity rings, so I could get her another eternity ring, but I think we like the simplicity of one diamond band, and I think the wedding band should be mostly platinum if not totally.

My impulse is to get a platinum ring made to match the diamond eternity, it would be the same width, same channel edges but maybe a brushed platinum surface where the diamonds are on the other ring. I think the similarity of form and contrast of materials would fit here sensibility well.

Do you know of a similar situation and how they resolved it. I know it's not common to give eternity rings as engagement rings, but it seems to be more common. What do they do about the wedding bands? Any advice on what I should do?

I have seen something similar to the second one. I think that's the direction I was thinking. I was also wondering what others have done.
