Hi all!

I'm still debating my Tacori designs, and found another in a gorgeous little jewellery shop that i think would be great with the antique diamond I have!

It's much more delicate in real life, but do you like it as is, or do you think I should set the diamond lower and not split the shank thrice like that? Do you think the prongs are too much?

Thanks!! :)

Thanks guys, here is another view. I''d really appreciate any aesthetic comments/recommendations for adjustments you have!

I love the top view but not crazy about the side view; it looks awfully high! Personally, I didn''t care for the U-prongs when I tried on a Tacori- they were a bit heavier than I prefer. I would def want it lower, but I don''t know that I would go to the trouble of having it set lower. Tacori does have some set lower- have you looked at others because I''m sure you could find something fairly similar.

Thanks, sera, and I do agree. There is also this one that I''m considering -- the ones with too many sidestones are just too out of my budget. What do you think of this one?

That one looks lower. Some people really like the high settings... it''s mostly personal preference, though they do tend to get knocked around a bit more.

I gotta say I do love the scalloping on Tacori.

Have you considered something custom? Someone here recently had a ring custom made that had the scalloping like Tacori, but I can''t remember who (maybe another PSer will). You could go with someone like Whiteflash and I would think the custom might be less than the designer stock setting- you could contact them for a quote on something like that but set lower (it just wouldn''t be an exact copy).

I think another PSer has bought Tacori on overstock... I don''t have experience doing that, so maybe someone who has could recommend it (or not).

You really want opinions...or different ideas? Okie Dokey!

First one to me, is it set too high. I love the design. The Tacori shank that seems to hoover with such feminine light lacy design is really pleasing to my eye. I also love the little hidden addition down at the base of the shank. The prongs...I don''t like. Lowering the setting of the stone will change them a tad...but what I feel would be best is to split that prong...slice it right down the center and make a dual claw tip. This smaller prong seems more complimentary to the lacy underneath and profile of the ring. It needs to be more delicate...a slice could achieve that.

The second one is nice, but I prefer the first with the adjustments. But you can''t go wrong with any Tacori. Yum.

Hi Lane! I''m sort of a newbie around here, but am loving all your Tacori posts. In fact, I''m waiting impatiently for my own Tacori right now. It should be in my soon-to-be fiance''s hands on Tuesday. Who knows when it will be on my finger.

I''ve tried on both of these rings and have to agree with the other posters. What''s hard to envision is the actual delicacy of a Tacori setting. Whenever I see them online they look so "chunky", when in real lift they are so graceful. You may already know this, but Tacori will customize any setting you choose to please you. When I went looking for mine, I was dead set against 6-prong, but then when I tried this on one (2507RD8) I just knew I had to have it. Not only is it 6-prong, but the prongs are quite prominant. Tacori is shaving them down a bit for me. I''ve also heard of them setting the diamonds lower or higher depending on the wearer''s preference.

I like the fist one best but think it is set waaaay too high. I wouldn''t consider it unless Tacori says they can set it lower.

I think it is so strange to judge prongs magnified like that. In person most rings are much more subtle and delicate. Tacori probably *would* lower the head for you. Each ring is made to order. I think it is very pretty.

For some reason I thought you said you were on a budget (must have been from the post I had read previously to this one). Anyway, if budget isn't a concern, like was mentioned they will make adjustments. If you're set on the first one (which is beautiful), maybe have the jeweler or yourself call and find out if it's just a simple lowering or it would have to be changed significantly.

I wanted to add that I did try on this ring (similar, but set lower). That's an option if budget (if changing the first would be a significant change/cost) is a concern. I liked the prongs much better on this one (but again, personal preference). I had tried on a u-prong (knife edge, trap sides) and they just stood out too much to me. Again, like was mentioned, the rings are much more delicate IRL.

I''m not sure what # it is... I tried it on at a Robbins Bros. It was really delicate and feminine and pretty. The halo was very subtle. I don''t recall exactly what the side profile was like, though I don''t remember that it sat terribly high (I was looking for a ring with sidestones, so I didn''t pick this solitaire design apart). This one and the one you posted are fairly similar... some prefer the stone set higher and some don''t.

They have it at Solomon Brothers, but I would guess the stock # is their personal # and not Tacori''s #. I have no experience with Solomon Bros so can''t really recommend them or not- I just happened to find the site when looking at Tacori rings.

THIS is a beautiful Tacori design, split shank, diamond sits high in a cup-like head. I LOVE IT!

beau, I tried that one on as well. I didn''t think I would like the twisted shank, but I actually really loved it. It''s very pretty!

Out of all of the settings posted in this thread, I like the first one the best. It is lovely and delicate. However, I agree that the stone definitely is too high. Have you asked is Tacori will lower it? If so, then great! I also think the prongs would be a little prettier if they were sparpened to a claw point. This would make them still sturdy, but more delicate.

Thanks Lane! I really like the setting Sera posted. Also if you go to a Tacori dealer they have a huge binder of all their current designs.

I bought my Tacori from overstock.com, so you can poo-poo me, but I almost bought this one from there. Kind of a heavy version of what you''re looking for.

Both designs are pretty. I think the magnification makes it hard to jugde. Tacori usually gets their proportions just right.
