is $16,500 a good price??

For that amount of money, I think you could do better in getting a stone with better symmetry and perhaps a little better depth/spread.

You noted this is a GIA stone, but GIA doesn't use "ideal" as a grade...their top grade is EX. I suspect 'ideal' used here simply means 'well-cut' in the generic sense. I don't know if that matters to you or not, but just want you to be aware of it.

sorry you are right the cut is excellent. i was writing the post from memory, i just looked a the certificate.

i thought that those were good numbers 56% table 62 depth? was i wrong?
 
It''s hard to fully evaluate the stone without all of the information on the cert, such as crown/pavillion angles.
 
Not to mention that the diamond is being misrepresented. Before even knowing the crown angles or pavilion angles it is neither Ideal or Excellent.
