Hi everyone,
I am a complete novice to diamonds and just made an order with blue nile for my engagement ring! I wanted some opinion regarding this. I brought a diamond from Blue nile.
I did alot of reading on pricescope and good old mind webpage regarding the 4Cs, fluroscence, the HCA calculator/TIC scores, the ideal pavillion/crown angles, depth, table and girdle width of a round diamond.
I managed to narrow my choices to two diamonds.
Both are excellent in their gia rating in cut symmetry and polish.
Here are the specifications (GIA cert):
First diamond:
1.58ct
F colour
VVS2
Dimensions: 7.48 -7.53x4.62mm
LW ratio 1.01
Table 56%
Depth 61.6%
Medium faceted girdle (3.5%)
Pavillion angle 40.8
Crown angle 34
Faint Flurosence.
The only inclusion reported is a pinpoint and that is at 7 o clock within the periphery of the crown when looking down.
HCA score: 1 - within TIC
This was 10900 GBP (17400 USD)
Tax 20% = 13080 gbp (21050 usd)
Second diamond
1.51ct
E colour
VVS2
Dimensions: 7.37-7.39x4.53 mm
LW ratio 1.00
Table 56%
Depth 61.4%
Medium faceted girdle 3.5%
Pavillion angle 40.6
Crown angle 35
No fluroscence
The inclusions are pin points - two at 9 o clock, one of which is within the crown and one is periphery of table, and one can be viewed at 6 o clock when pavillion is facing up.
HCA score 0.8.
Price: 13200 GBP (21200 USD)
tax = 15840 gbp (25450 usd)
Both diamond had not been reported to have ingraining.
I ended up with the first diamond with faint flurosence as it did not make sense to spend roughly 3K GBP (4.5K USD) for going up to E colour and no flurosence.
I am worried I may have made a wrong choice... partly because the first diamond is relatively cheap compared to other diamonds of the same specifications in the blue nile inventory, also when I tried on other online websites including on pricescope, J.allen, quality diamonds uk - similar diamonds appear more expensive.
Do you think there is something wrong with the diamond? Would the faint fluroscence matter?
Should I be concern about the faint flurosence and the LW ratio not being 1.00?
Also do you think the diamond is reasonably priced?
I would be grateful for any advice/opinions and suggestions! Thanks!
