I need advice on this PRINCESS diamond. The table, depth, girdle, and perfect square dimensions look really good, but it has a LOW CROWN HIGHT estimated by the gemologist to be around 5.5% to 7%. My concern is light return and also the somewhat steep price.

The exact specs are as follows: 1.58 Princess, F, SI1, depth 70.5%, table 70%, Ex/Ex, Medium Girgle, 6.51x6.51x4.59, NO Culet, No Fl., CROWN HIEGHT 5.5%-7%.

The PRICE TAG = $9,600.00.

Should the low Crown Hieght stop me from purchasing this otherwise well cut princess diamond?? Is the Price right for this stone?? Please, I need help and I need it SOON. I have to make my decision to buy today or tomorrow. Any comments, suggestions or advice would be greately appreciated. Thanks.

yikes! that is a very low crown, even if it is at the upper end of those numbers at 7%. have you seen this stone? if so, have you compared it with others? personally, i would look for a higher crown %, but if you''ve seen it and like it, what''s to stop you?

It is practically impossible to judge a fancy shape diamond by the numbers alone, we recommend sending the diamond to one of the independent appraisers listed via the "resources" link at the top of this page for evaluation...

The flat crown saves some material and makes that diamond a bit larger than most 1.5cts princess cuts listed here. It is not by far the most expensive, although significantly lower is also found.

Now, why call it "fine cut" as long as it is not know how brilliant that is ?

Adding cut pedigree to the mix (link to example) just allows for H-SI1.

Perhaps better offers can be found with all the stats already in place - I have not searched beyond this.

I have not seen this stone in person. I have only viewed its stats on the internet and the GIA cert. The clarity is really good for a SI1. Nothing table down, most clouds in the crown angle. I''ve been told its 100% eyeclean from all angles. The only thing holding me back is the low crown height and the price. Although, per carat, the price is behind RAPP and lower than most other price per carat breakdowns on PRICESCOPE for F color diamonds within this general cut range. Also, the gemologist said she was making a rough estimate of teh crown height % and was not really sure she was doing it correctly or accurately. However, a lower crown height makes sense given the bigger demesions (6.51x6.51) and depth (70.5%) of this stone.

I''m still so unsure. $9,600.00 is alot of money.

Thanks to all for the advise and help so far.
