Hey guys, I just wanted some advice on a 1.30 carat GIA-certified diamond that I found online. The stats are J color, SI1 clarity, Excellent cut, Very Good symmetry, Excellent polish, no fluorescence. Below is the GIA report. I redacted the report number and date just to be safe.

I contacted the vendor and they also gave me a nice picture of it, below. It looks like it's listed on both Enchanted Diamonds and B2C Jewels.

I'm quite interested in this stone and I was hoping you guys could tell me what you think. It's for a white gold or platinum engagement ring, and I heard this set of stats can get a very nice-looking stone for a good value. The list price is ~$5300. Here are some questions:

1. Enchanted says the diamond is from India and is a final sale, but B2C seems to be willing to do the standard 30-day return. How does that work, presuming it's the same diamond? Perhaps I should just go with B2C. Does anyone have experience with either of these vendors?

2. The image looks exceptionally clean to me, although I don't know much about diamonds. Could someone explain to me how the stone got it's SI1 rating?

3. Based on the numbers, how do you think the diamond will look in terms of brilliance? HCA says 1.4 but I'm not sure how valuable this analysis is. Will the extra facet affect much?

4. How reasonable is the price for this? Any general opinions?

Thanks!

edi: Ok, oops, I think I got confused looking at this thread and another at the same time.

The picture looks like it has a lot of leakage, but can you please type out the dimensions and angles, I can't see on the GIA picture you posted.

Please see below.

Buy from B2C Jewels...I just purchased a cushion from them that Blue Nile had at 1800 more and Blue Nile wouldnt match the price. The stone is gorgeous! See my other posts for details and let me know if you have any questions on my dealings with B2C

I would not expect to see that kind of image based on those proportions.

If I had to guess, I would guess the pavilion angle in the image is <=41.

You can ask them to double check.

Thanks for your replies.

JulieN, I'm not sure I understand. The pavilion angle on the GIA report is 40.6. Any opinions on the stone? Thanks!

People here have purchased from B2C and they seem to have had good experiences with them. I'd probably choose them just for the return policy. Also, B2C does provide Idealscopes if you ask them.

Yes, the PA on the report is 40.6, but I would hazard to guess that the diamond in the picture has a PA deeper than that, so to my best knowledge, the diamond in the report and the diamond in the picture do not match. Mix-ups happen, so I wanted you to ask the vendor to double check.

My opinion: the price seems good enough that I would ignore that picture and buy based off the GIA report if there is a good return policy. I would never buy from somewhere that had no return policy.

I meant >=, greater than 41. :cry:
