Hello All,

Needing some advice, I have just started looking to purchase an engagement ring and not sure of what I am after. Excuse me if I don''t use the correct terms but I will try and describe what I had in mind...

I am looking at a marquise solitare (approx 0.9 carat) on a plain band and then I want to get a wedding band with the small diamonds the whole way around the band. I think this is a pave or a baquette??? I have not seen this combination together before and wandered if anyone has pictures or comments on this?

look forward to comments.

thanks

Naomi

Well, this is a w-band with baguettes (the shape of the diamonds is called that) allright. Is this the thing ?

Hi Anna,

was there supposed to be a photo with that last message?

The bands would be shared prong (left) and pave with mill grain edges (right).

Yes, Yes, Yes. Thats exactly what I want. I am living in Dubai and getting it made here so need the pictures to explain exactly what I want. Thank you so much. I think the one on the left is what I am after. What Tiffany site are you looking at as I have been looking through tiffany.com and could not find this combination.

Well... those are bits and pieces of Tiffany.com pictures put together via Paint (the "application" in Windows).

I don't think the setting Tiffany uses for marquis solitaires fits flush with the band. There should be a bit of gap. The piece that holds the stone (="head") might need to be of a different kind - most likely higher set too.

Precisionset makes rings to fit... and even rounds need strategic placement to clear those bands. These below are basket set, "cathedral" style (I think):

There's no marq on their website, but one "long" emerald demonstrates (IMO) that with these settings, long stones can fit over the wedding band if desired.

Hope this helps.

Any other ideas anyone on what would look good with a marquise??? Looking at setting for e.ring and wedding band.

thanks
